Pre-structured minors (2)

• In 2009-2010, the following ten minors will be
  taught also or only in English
• Cultural Literacy (Academia Vitae, Deventer, 22,5
  ECTS of which 20 ECTS count)
• Dutch Studies
• (European Studies gt BUT CANNOT BE CHOSEN BY ES
  STUDENTS)
• Education in Developing Countries
• Financial Engineering (note entry requirements)

• History
• International Exploration (study tour group or
  individual)
• International Management (courses internship)

• Sustainable Development in a North-South

• On top of that, the minor Professionele
  Communicatie contains the (optional) course
  "Academic Writing in English"

Free minor (1)

• Composed by student in cooperation with Rik
  Reussing (intermediary for ES) and/or a member
  of staff (coach) minor plan of existing
  UT-courses (or courses at other Dutch
  universities) or internship
• Minor plan letter of motivation to Ba exam
  committee
• Approval needed before starting the minor
• Any changes along the way additional approval

• Requirements
• Paradigm shift it really has to be different
  from major programme in ES (different subjects,
  different context or environment)
• Balanced, coherent set of courses
• Third year level

International minor (1)

• Paradigm shift through visit abroad (foreign

• Subjects can be more close to ES
• Example Niederlande-Deutschland Studien (WWU)

• Two possibilities
• Use existing MB network. See list of existing
  exchange cooperation (hand-out Hennie Lubbers)
• Find your own exchange programme

International minor (3)

• PLEASE NOTE
• MB has limited amount of exchange places. If
  necessary we will draw lots. Please hand in your
  application form Erasmus 2009/2010 before the 1st
  of February
• If you search yourself no guarantees beforehand
  from our side
• International minor also has to be approved by Ba
  exam committee (see free minor for requirements),
  but no MAST registration needed
• Additionaly Erasmus form (has to be handed in on
  before the 1st of May by the university outside
  the Netherlands)

Free minors / International minors

• Please note that
• A. in all likelihood STUDY DELAY will occur. This
  also goes for some pre-structured international
  minors (Sustainable development, International
  exploration, International management)
• Enrolment for most Ma programmes May 2009, so
  you have to think well ahead!
• There are additional requirements regarding some
  third year obligatory- courses (Rik Reussing)

Minor Ba thesis

• Ba thesis abroad?
• Possible, but
• limited amount of time (15 ECTS)
• only through internship, NOT at a foreign
  university (i.e. supervision has to be done by
  UT/MB)

• Can the minor Ba thesis be combined? Yes,
  depending on minor content (for instance field
  study thesis research)
• Is it advisable? Not really
