The NIDRR Research Program
  • The mission of NIDRR is to generate new knowledge
    and promote its effective use to improve the
    abilities of people with disabilities to perform
    activities of their choice in the community, and
    also to expand society's capacity to provide full
    opportunities and accommodations for its citizens
    with disabilities.
  • Research Priorities employment outcomes health
    and function technology for access and function
    participation and community living capacity
    building, and other associated disability
    research areas.
  • Current research includes physical and medical
    rehabilitation, mental health, education,
    employment, technology, knowledge translation,
    and the built environment.
  • In 2008 NIDRR funded 34 model systems, 10
    regional ADA technical assistance centers, 34
    research and training centers, 25 engineering
    research centers, plus fellowships, field
    initiated research, and small business innovative
    research.
