24Every person and family can and must do
something to alleviate hunger by adopting a
lifestyle and consumption compatible with the
safeguarding of creation and the criteria of
justice.

Future food security (MDGs 1,2,3,6,7,8)
26My family ate one meal a day. Sometimes we went
without food when we had no money and nothing to
cook. (Teopista)
27- Caritas Australia, Teopista and other farmers in
Uganda work together to - grow enough food to eat
- earn an income
- collect rainwater
- build energy saving stoves
- build toilets
- learn about nutrition and hygiene
Teopistas family now eat three meals a day, and
the children go to school.

29I went to my relatives and neighbours for
assistance but they were unable to help me as

community to work together to
- plant local grasses and trees
- harvest crops
- collect rainwater
- establish seed banks
I see a future since this project has started. I
can grow healthy organic vegetables to feed my

32Before this course I never thought of gardening
and I had no direction.

leadership in the community
Junior is using his new skills to train others.
.now they are growing enough vegetables to
improve their health and even to sell. (Junior)

38- Before being involved in the PMHC youth project,
the youth had little to do.

Youth Project is working with the community of
Balgo to - run family nights
- organise youth discos
- - make films
- - hunt and fish
There has been positive change in the energy and
behaviours among young people and the way they
interact with others in the community.
