Preface
  • The following are the results of a survey
conducted in Fall 2006. The survey allowed all

experience in using the Blackboard site. The
survey is based on the responses of 841 students.

Student Comments
  • I, personally appreciate when instructors use
Blackboard because of my busy schedule. I can
always depend on course materials to be made
available on this resource. ( 80 users replied
    similarly)
  • Two of my teachers posted notes on Blackboard.
This allowed me to print off the notes before
going to class. Then, I didn't need to write as
many notes and could pay more attention to what
the teacher was saying. ( 70 users replied
    similarly)

Student Comments
  • Blackboard helped me to stay more organized with
my courses. I appreciate when professors use
Blackboard regularly. ( 35 users replied
    similarly)
  • I have a course this semester that posts
everything on Blackboard. If a student loses any
handouts, they can go on blackboard and it is
available to you. Every teacher should think
about doing this. ( 60 users replied similarly)

What were the biggest frustrations you had in
using Blackboard?
  • Unanswered 58.9 (495)
  • Professors not using Bb (they should) 25.7
    (89)
  • Double login problem 18.5 (64)
  • No problems 14.7 (51)
  • Professors not posting grades on Bb 10.1 (35)
  • Notify students changes made in Bb 4.0 (14)
  • Problematic when Bb down for maintenance 4.0
    (14)
  • When courses disappeared 3.5 (12)

Student Comments
  • My biggest frustration is that not all of the
professors use Blackboard. The grade function is
an amazing help. That is what I check the most
often. I wish all of the professors would be
required to use it. We are in a technological
age, they should join too. ( 90 users replied
    similarly)
  • Blackboard wasn't used to its full potential in
a lot of my classes, and it wasn't used at all in
some. ( 90 users replied similarly)
  • There were some occasions when something was
posted on Blackboard and there wasn't sufficient
notice given so, I ended up missing an
opportunity for extra points in the class. I also
had a problem with the inconsistent use of
    Blackboard. One professor uses Blackboard
heavily this year, while others don't use it at
all. ( 35 users replied similarly)
