Template Instructions
  • Throughout this template will be placed
suggestions for format as well as content.
Essentially there are three goals for this
    presentation
  • Show you Get it (Have your data from various
    sources),
  • Got it (understand the ramifications of your
data. Extrapolate if this three year trend
    continues..,
  • Go (have a set of action steps to fix what
    problems your data points out.)

3
Get It
  • Data is available in a variety of places
  • Decision Framework is the state approved model
for baseline data ours is now online here.
  • Other data available includes Local Report Cards
(indicators and demographics), Value Added and
    locally collected (DIBELS/Treasures/Attendance/
    Discipline/Iowa/COGAT, Study Island)
  • If we or the state collect it, you should use it
    or stop collecting it!
  • If you use it, illustrate how your staff gets
    it.
  • Multiple data points are better trends show
more than points What causes your individual
building data to be what it is? (Value Added
    Level III training!)

4
Data Driven Boredom?
  • Highlight your performance dont list every
    data detail
  • Show you do more than accumulate data, you
    comprehend data
  • Two celebrations maximum, 2-3 areas of data focus
    maximum
  • FOCUS on the reason you are going to take what
    action steps you are advocating.

5
Include more graphics than numbers!!!
6
Decision Framework First
  • Highlights Problems
  • Staff Data (transfers/retirements)
  • Glaring issues be careful not to over
analyze, but get to the point.
  • Problems with n (proficiency by group) Dont
neglect a group just because your n doesnt
    equal 30! (SWD!)
  • Levels of Concern other than Reading? (I)
  • Reading Subscale/OGT problems?

7
Got it - Beyond the Indicators
  • Using the state success site as well as the
indicators and value added scores, highlight both
    progress and problem areas.
  • What staff changes have helped? Is more needed?
  • Are there technological solutions?

8
Go - Goals
  • After all data slides, integrate the district
    goals with three major sections.
  • Each section (Literacy, Math, Culture/Climate)
    should have supporting thoughts, trends/patterns
and how youll follow up with this years scores.
  • The theme for the district plan will be Every
    Grade, Every Test, Every Child

9
Goals Lead to Action
  • What Action steps are already in place?
  • What Action steps do you envision further to
    correct deficiencies?
  • How will you measure your success? SMART goals
  • Worst case scenario? What if this doesnt work?
    Is there a plan B?
  • How will you get staff buy-in?
  • 0 based budget? Who pays? How Much?

10
SMART Goals

  • Measurable
  • Attainable
