Accommodations for Content Assessments

• Should not be different from or in addition to
  the accommodations provided in the classroom
  during instruction and assessment
• Should not subvert or invalidate the purpose of
  the tests
• Must not give away the answers

Allowable Accommodations for English Language
Learners

• Extended Time/Adjust Time
• Intermittent short breaks during the testing
  period or testing in a number of short sessions
  may be appropriate.
• Some students may just need more time.
• Must be completed within the allotted test dates
  including makeup days
• Possible security issues if students are given
  breaks between testing sessions

• Individual/Small Group Administration
• 8 students
• Based on student need
• Required if extended time on a timed test or
  tests read aloud is provided.
• Test administrator must be trained in test
  security and administration.

• No definitions for all sessions but Writing
• Standard or electronic
• May be used on all sections of the tests
• A dictionary with definitions should be provided
  for the Writing sessions.

• Teacher or Individual Providing Language Services
• Familiarity with the speech patterns may assist
  students (especially if the student receives the
  accommodation Tests Read Aloud).
• May clarify directions on the test
