• No more than 6 lines per slide with no more than
  6 words per line
• Phrases are a must
• Bulleted lists work best

• The celebration of Kwanzaa began on
  December 26, 1966 and was developed by Dr.
  Maulana Ron Karenga. Kwanzaa is not a religious
  celebration. It is a festive and joyous
  celebration of the goodness of life. It is
  celebrated by more than 20 million people in the
  United States, Canada, England, the Caribbean,
  and Africa. Kwanzaa celebrates the African
  American heritage, pride, family, community, and
  culture. The seven-day celebration begins the
  day after Christmas and ends on New Years Day.

• Don't use italics or CAPS or change text color
  except for emphasis

• Titles should be the largest (44 or 42)
• If using template, use the default size
• Text is generally size 28-32
• Small fonts are hard to read
• Should be read from back of room

• Make sure graphics relate closely to the text on
  the slide

Organization

• After research, use paper/pencil or word
  processor to create text of presentation
  indicating where graphics/links may need to be
  added
• This is called a story board
• Choose background/font/template
• Put text on slides
• Add graphics
• Edit carefully
• Add slide transitions/animation
• View to ensure any any last minute fixes

More distractions

• Keep animation/slide transition minimal
• If using above, use the same slide transition
  and/or text animation throughout the entire
  presentation
• Don't use sound -- it is distracting unless you
  want emphasis
• Always best to proceed on mouse click

First Slide

• Always the title slide including title of project
  and author
• Do not animate the title slide.

A Few More Tips

• Never have a 'The End slide
• Use a concluding or a blank slide to let your
  audience know you are finished
• Use a slide called Resources Used to indicate
  where your information and graphics came from
