2London New Years Day Parade
- Our band has been recognized for its superior
performance! - The Marching Band has been selected to
participate in the 2008 London New Years Day
Parade! - It is a huge honor for our band to be selected
from high schools around the world! - This is an enormous accomplishment and
recognition of our students hard work.
3- Over the last 22 years the Parade on New Years
Day and the week long Festival of concerts and
other performances have developed into one of the
greatest events in the world.
4- Not only has the Parade and Festival provided
magnificent performance opportunities for
hundreds of groups of young Americans, but also
the carefully constructed Performance Tour that
is provided by the events International partner
Youth Music for The World - has given a memorable
and life changing educational experience to more
than 100,000 young Americans over the history of
the event.
5- Londons New Year Day Parade and Festival is an
official event of the City of Westminster, and is
supported by Her Majesty The Queen, who annually
instructs her Lord Lieutenant for Greater London
to represent her in the organization and
operation of the event.
6- Londons New Years Day Parade and Festival is
also supported by Her Majestys Government, and
boasts the Prime Minister and the Secretary for
Media, Culture and Sport as Patrons.
7- Other Patrons include the Lord Mayor of The City
of Westminster, The Ambassador of the United
States of America, The Bishop of London, and The
Archbishop of Westminster. The event is also
actively supported by all 31 of Londons Boroughs
Civic Mayors.
8- The Festivals Gala Concerts and other
performances are given in some of the most
prestigious venues in London before packed
audiences of dignitaries and local music lovers,
and visitors.
9- Londons New Years Day Parade, which is now
directly comparable in prestige to the Tournament
of Roses, and Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade is
performed in front of more than half a million
people on a 2.2 mile route that includes The
Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, and
Piccadilly Circus.
- Groups of performers and entertainers from all
over the world take part, and the television
program of the event is beamed via 550 television
stations worldwide to an estimated audience of
two hundred and twenty million people.
10Youth Music of the World Organization
- Londons New Years Day Parade and Festival works
in exclusive partnership with the Youth Music of
The World Organization for the creation and
provision of the Performance Tour arrangements
for groups appearing in the Festival.
11Not a Travel Company
- Youth Music of The World is not a travel company,
and no travel company can offer you participation
in Londons New Years Day Parade and Festival.
12Dedicated Staff Member
- The organization pioneered the concept of each of
our performing groups having a dedicated member
of our team stay with them and live each
program with their group as a permanent, ever
present, resource.
13A Week Long Program
- Over many years we have developed a week long
program that gives a near perfect balance of
performance and rehearsal time, educational
sightseeing bus tour - time, unstructured time
in which to plan educational and cultural visits
of specific personal interest and some pure fun
time.
14Transportation
- Whenever motor coach transportation is included
in our program it is provided on luxury, modern,
motor coaches, fully certified to the highest
levels of industry safety and security and with
experienced, safe and qualified drivers. Our
motor coach providers have to submit proof of
insurance cover to the equivalent of ten million
dollars. Modern British motor coaches have large
panoramic windows, state of the art sound
systems, passenger seat belts (compulsory) and
have effective heating and ventilation. All motor
coaches provide a smoke free environment.
15Tour Guides
- Our guides are all fully qualified members of the
Guild of Guide Lecturers and proudly display
their qualification by wearing the famous Blue
Badge. We have carefully selected all of the
guides that we use from this elite Guild,
choosing those guides who we feel can best relate
to, and who can provide stimulating and
interesting commentary for young Americans.
16Youth Music uses only the worlds best airlines,
each a major scheduled carrier, and each
operating to the highest safety criteria in the
aviation industry.
17Airline Travel
- All passengers will travel in Coach Class. On
International trans-Atlantic flights this always
includes at least one main meal, and one snack
meal in each direction, complimentary soft
drinks, and a full range of in-flight
entertainment including movies, TV programs, and
audio channels.
18Hotels
- The selection of accommodations is crucially
important to the success of the Performance Tour

23Meals - Breakfast
- Breakfast is provided every day in the groups
hotel. It is offered in a buffet style and
includes the following items A selection of
fresh fruit juices, cereals, pastries and breads
such as croissant, pain au raisin, pain au
chocolate, brioche, bread rolls, baguette, and
bread for toasting. Butter, low fat spread, and
preserves are also included. There will be a
selection of fresh and preserved fruit, as well
as yogurts of various types. In addition there
will be a selection of cheeses and hams to
complete an enhanced and substantial Continental
Breakfast. Hot beverages of tea, coffee, and hot
chocolate will be available, as will hot and cold
milk.
24Meals - Dinners
- The program includes two dinners to be taken in
the hotel, one of which we recommend should
always be taken on the day of arrival in London.
The meals in the hotel will generally be served
buffet style and will consist of two courses, an
entrée and a dessert, with a salad available as a
side dish. A considerable range of menu choice
will be given to allow group leaders to select
the most suitable menus for their groups.
25To ensure that a main meal can be enjoyed every
day as part of the program, four sets of vouchers
which can be used at a vast range of restaurants
in London, including many of the popular fast
food or express dining restaurants that are
popular with North American students. We
guarantee that there will be a considerable
number of restaurants within a few moments walk
of the hotel that will accept the vouchers. The
hotels themselves also accept the vouchers. By
using the voucher scheme we have found that we
can give todays North American students exactly
what they want, providing unrivalled choice in
type of food and style of service. We have
found vouchers to be infinitely more satisfying
than offering a set menu for every dinner, and
finding that a high percentage of students do not
care for that with which they are presented.
26The Parade Route
- The New Years Day Parade London, will begin
the 2.2-mile Parade route underneath Big Ben
and the Palace of Westminster, marching up

entering Trafalgar Square below Nelsons Column.
- They will continue along Cockspur Street and Pall
Mall before turning into Waterloo Place and
marching up Lower Regent Street. At Piccadilly
Circus they will turn left into Piccadilly and
march past the VIP grandstands in which all of
Londons Mayors will be seated. Here there will
be a stop and performance requirement for TV
cameras.
27Parade Route
- The Ritz Hotel marks the Parade route end where
