Year 5 / 4 The children in my class have been
trying extra hard these past two weeks, in order
to perfect their swimming skills. Some were a
little unsure at first, but they are all now
coming on in leaps and bounds. As if that wasnt
enough exercise, we have been marching to and
from Horwich Leisure Centre each day, at quite a
pace. Im sure all will feel safer in the water
by the time the holidays arrive. Most children
have been very organised, ensuring that they have
all the correct equipment each day thanks to
parents for assisting with this matter. The
childrens enthusiasm for swimming is reflected
on our web page check it out!
Our IPC topic this term is Do You Live Around
Here Habitats. In this unit, children will be
learning about the similarities and differences
between a wide variety of habitats, the animals
and plants within each one and external factors
that can affect the habitat. Comparisons will
be made of captive habitats, compared to wild,
natural ones. Children will inevitably learn
about territorial behaviour and the way in which
an individual defends its own space and members
of its own family or group. The international
dimension of this topic, lies in the appreciation
of the ways in which different people live their
lives and the forces which compel them to make
the choices they do.
Parents have been wonderful for our past IPC
topics, in sending in resources to use in the
classroom. If anyone has anything we could
borrow, please dont hesitate to let me know.
