What does a level 1 student look like ?
Beginning to explore the use of ICT e.g. can use
a simple data handling package to create a
pictogram
Uses ICT to work with text, images and sound to
help share ideas e.g. explore some basic tools of
a painting package
Uses simple software to model real life e.g.
dress an onscreen teddy ready for snowy weather
Can make choices to produce different
outcomes e.g. adjust volume or push a button to
make a toy work
Explorative building familiarity
Familiar with everyday uses of ICT e.g. TV, CD
player
Knows information exists in different forms e.g.
talking and paper-based books, photos, films,
tapes etc
Can talk about how they use ICT e.g.Our photos
are on the computer
Know many everyday devices respond to signals and
instructions e.g. Pressing the button makes the
music play
Developing mouse control and keyboard skills e.g.
Select and move objects on screen, copy name
using keyboard
