Introduction

• Becoming a teacher is an important decision and
  it is not the easiest career in the world,
  despite what many people may think. Nowadays
  there is more than one approach to get certified
  in the state of Texas. There has been much
  discussion about which approach is the best,
  however all the approaches present good evidence
  and make good arguments.

Position Statement

• Through the research that we have done, our group
  does feel that going through the college of
  education is the best way to become certified.
  We respect all those individuals who are making
  an effort to get into classrooms as quickly as
  possible to help the children, but we feel that
  they need exposure so that they are not surprised
  on the first day.

Reasons of Position

• The No Child Left Behind Act, is in very strong
  place right now, allowing less people who are
  unqualified into the classrooms. This makes the
  need for teachers to be in higher demand, but the
  need for trained people to take over classrooms.
  This Act is another good reason why people
  seeking to become teachers should go through a
  college of education.

Reasons of Position

• We learn how to use more than one form of
  technology that we can incorporate into our
  classrooms. It is part of the requirements that
  we need to meet in order to help our students in
  this technology driven age, and we learn what is
  the most appropriate ways to use good technology.

• Lastly, we would like to point out that through
  the college of education we learn the most
  appropriate way to develop technology rich lesson
  plans, which our students can benefit from.
  Other certification programs train the area of
  creating lesson plans or classroom management,
  but do not focus on the strongpoint of technology
  rich lessons.

Concluding Remarks

• We would like to say that we look forward to
  becoming teachers and getting an opportunity to
  work with children. To all of those who may see
  this brief presentation, do not disregard the
  idea of becoming teachers through a college of
  education, because you get so much feedback and
  help with lessons, especially incorporating
  technology into this highly technological age.
