Rule of Thumb for ITCs

• The first word of the Works Cited entry goes in
  the parentheses.

In-Text Citations - How

• At the end of your sentence, you put the authors
  last name and the page number you got the info
  from in parentheses. Heres an example  
• A recent article on school food stated,
  "Alleghany County has the best food that's ever
  been" (Smith 204).
• If you mention the author's name, then it looks
  like this.
• -In a recent article on school food, Bill Smith
  said, "Alleghany County has the best food that's
  ever been" (204).

Exceptions

• If the article does not have an author, then you
  put the first word of the title, like this
• -A recent article stated, Alleghany has the best
  soccer team in the league (Soccer 204)
• If the article does not have page numbers, then
  you dont put anything for a number.
• -A recent article stated, Alleghany has the best
  soccer team in the league (Soccer)
