4G7 INITIATIVEWCO Security and Trade Facilitation
Task Force
- WCO Security Task Force Review reinforces the
importance of having a standardized set of data
elements - A Task Force Sub-Group of Customs and Trade
representatives recently reviewed the WCO Data
Model for Risk Assessment capability - 27 data elements were identified as key for
assessing risk - WCO Data model contains CSI data elements.
- One of the 27 data elements needed to be added to
the WCO Data Model
5G7 ELECTRONIC EXPORT
- New EDI Export Service Option to replace paper
B13A - Exporter transmits electronic export declaration
to Customs - G7 Export One Step data set and G7 EDIFACT
message format - Export information sent to Statistics Canada
- Consistent with reporting requirements contained
in new Export Regulations
6G7 IMPORT ONE STEP (Release on Full
Documentation)
- Provides Importer/Broker the opportunity to
transmit a single electronic message containing
both release and accounting information, prior to
the release of goods - Existing deferred payment features available
under the current Two Step process are retained - G7 Import One Step data set and G7 EDIFACT
message format
7G7 IMPORT ONE STEP (Release on Full
Documentation)
- 2 new electronic messages
- G7 EDIFACT One Step message
- Uses the G7 import data set
- Compatible with G7 Export
- Promotes re-usability of information between
export import trade chain - CADEX One Step message
- Uses existing CADEX message protocol
- New message based on elements of existing CADEX
EDI Release and CADEX Confirming Entry - Does not use G7 import data set

- Advantages of EDI extended to Export
- Release accounting information together in a
single message - Standardized Data Sets and Electronic Messages
- Systems maintenance
- Management of Information
- Reduced data storage
- Reduces need for data manipulation in
export-import trade chain - Allows for quick deployment in other countries
9G7 INITIATIVEG7 UK Canada Project
- This Project will coincide with Canadian and UK
Implementation of G7 Data Sets Spring 2003 - Purpose will be to test advantages of common data
and message structures - Some participants have committed - more are
welcome - Opportunity for Traders to influence outcomes and
evaluation - Not restricted to Canada UK trade
- Evaluation results will be presented to WCO
