But now the righteousness of God has been
manifested apart from the law, although the Law
and the Prophets bear witness to itthe
righteousness of God through faith in Jesus
Christ for all who believe. For there is no
distinction for all have sinned and fall short
of the glory of God, and are justified by His
grace as a gift, through the redemption that is
in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward

as a propitiation by His blood, to be received
by faith. This was to show God's righteousness,
because in His divine forbearance He had passed
over former sins. It was to show His
righteousness at the present time, so that He
might be just and the justifier of the one who
has faith in Jesus.

WHAT GOOD IS A FAITH WITHOUT WORKS?
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he
has faith but does not have works? Can that faith
save him? If a brother or sister is poorly
clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you
says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled
without giving them the things needed for the
body, what good is that? So also faith by itself,
if it does not have works, is dead.

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in
sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can
we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not
know that all of us who have been baptized into
Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We

death, in order that, just as Christ was raised
from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too
might walk in newness

 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that
we will also live with Him. We know that

Christ, being raised from the dead, will never
die again death no longer has dominion over
Him. For the death he died he died to sin, once
for all, but the life he lives he lives to
God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to

obey its passions. Do not present your members to
sin as

instruments for unrighteousness, but present
yourselves to God as those who have been brought
from death to life, and your members to God as

Was not Abraham our father justified by works
when he offered up his son Isaac on the
altar? You see that faith was active along with
his works, and faith was completed by his
works and the Scripture was fulfilled that says,
Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him
as righteousnessand he was called a friend of
God

You see that a person is justified by works and
not by faith alone. And in the same way was not
also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when
she received the messengers and sent them out by
another way? For as the body apart from the
spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is
dead.

FAITH EXEMPLIFIED
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new
creation. The old has passed away behold, the
new has come. All this is from God, who through
Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the
ministry of reconciliation that is, in Christ
God was reconciling the world to Himself, not
counting their trespasses against them, and
entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
Therefore, we are

ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal
through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ,
be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to
be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might
become the righteousness of God.

However true that axiom may be as a summary of
Pauls insistence on the adequacy of faith to
save, it is a travesty of his teaching to turn it
into a formula of convenience which so exalts
faith that it leads to ethical indifference and
license.
