MAC SIG

• Thursday 27 August meeting Engineering
  Auditorium 1900
• The topic will be "Macintosh in a Windows World
• Demo of Thursby Software's DAVE smb system
• Mirimar Systems PC-MACLAN Pro, Straight FTP, and
  how to setup media to be used in both systems.
• The usual topics will be discussed and, of
  course, RAFFLES, RAFFLES, RAFFLES!!

PC SIG

• Meetings are usually held on the second Thursday
  of the month at 1700 in Spanagel 421.
• 10 Sep - Hardware/software swap meet (Probably
  in Sp-100)
• 08 Oct - Upgrade ideas - hard drives,
  processors, partitionmagic demo etc.
• Nov - LINUX demo and alternate operating
  systems.
• For the hardware/software swap here are some
  ideas we came up with
• a) Start at 1600
• b) Open it up to the entire computer club (PC,
  LINUX and Mac)
• c) admission free to all students/NPS employees
• d) For sellers
• 1) free to club members with paid up dues
• 2) all others pay 5.00
• e) any equipment that does not sell or that a
  seller wishes to donate can be raffled off.
• As always - ideas, new members and participation
  at meetings is always welcome.

LINUX SIG

• After a long break, LINUX SIG will have its
  montly meeting on this Thursday (27 August).
• In this meeting, we would like to introduce you
  to Common Object Broker Architecture (CORBA), an
  interesting and promising middleware.
• New members are welcome. There will be an
  off-line talks about the Linux installation
  problems after the the presentation. Bring all
  your problems and experience to the meeting so
  that we can help each other.
