made up of places where we know and interact with
real people. - Community is also a group of people who enjoy the
same things, or engage in the same activities,
such as a club, team, or school.
5The Cyber Community
- Cyberspace, the Internet, can also be thought of
as a community called the cyber community. It is
comprised of places (websites) in which real
people interact.

- Traveling in the Cyber Community is a lot like
traveling in the community you live in.
8Since the Internet community is made up of
real people and real places, its important to
think about the safety issues it presents.
9One-way to stay safe, is to not reveal any
information about oneself online
- Never tell anyone
- Your name
- Address
- Phone number
- Age
- Gender
- Family Names
- School
- Never give a stranger your picture
- These are all considered to be identifying or
personal information.
10Personal Safety Online
- There are many dangers youth face while online,
such as - Predators strangers who may cause harm
- Cyber bullies
- Inappropriate websites and material
11Websites that are inappropriate for kids and
teens include
- Sites that ask for money for any reason
- Sites that ask for your personal information such
as name and e-mail address, - Gambling sites
- Sites which contain adult content
- Sites which tell about violence or hate towards
people.
12- The important thing to remember is that its not
your fault if you get to an inappropriate website
by mistake. - Exit the website and tell an adult if you go
anywhere on the internet that makes you
uncomfortable.

- Prepare yourself - Many online problems can be
avoided or dealt with safely. Keep in mind the 4
Rs - RECOGNIZE
- REFUSE
- RESPOND
- REPORT
