3Big Bang- Overview
- The Big Bang,
- One possible answer to the creation of the
universe - Happened 10-20 billion years ago
- All matter and energy was compacted into a point
- When this point exploded all matter and energy
created the universe - It spread all the matter and energy far apart

7Evidence
- Universe has to have a beginning
- Galaxies appear to be moving from us at speeds
proportional to their distance. - If the universe was initially very hot as the Big
Bang suggest we should be able to find some
remnants of this heat. Cosmic Microwave
Background Radiation, this thought to be the
remnant their looking for. - Finally, the abundance of the "light elements"
Hydrogen and Helium found in the observable
universe are thought to support the Big Bang
model of origins.
8Faults
- What caused the Big Bang?!?!
- ?
9Future of The Big Bang Theory
The future of The Big Bang theory is OK. It still
is the no. 1 cosmological theory that can explain
a wide amount of things. At on time, though The
Big Bang Theory was about to abandoned. But, with
a major break through in technological advances
with telescopes and the large amount of data
collected by Hubble Space Telescope and the NASA
WMAP telescope saved it.
10Big Crunch
11Big Crunch- Overview
-One possible fate for the universe -Basically
the Big Crunch theory states that as the universe
continues to expand the gravitational pull on all
matter slows the speed of this expansion down
little by little until the expansion will stop.
Then the universe will begin to collapse on
itself(like a black hole sucking everything in)
12Big Crunch- Overview
- This Big Crunch could happen in the next
10-20 billion years.
13Evidence
- The speed of which the universe is expanding at
does appear to be slowing down, and this maybe
because of the gravitational pull - The Big Crunch agrees with that fact that the
universe is expanding(which it is or appears to
be) and that the universe has a beginning and an
end.
14Faults
- Is gravitational pull really strong enough to
slow down the universes expansion? - The gravitational pull can only slow down matter
if it has a high enough density - - At the moment the density required has not been
reached
15Cool Fact
- After the Big Crunch, enough kinetic energy is
supposed to be made that it will spawn another
Big Bang!
