2District Goals
- Each year your District Governor (DG) identifies
goals for his/her year - Every Zone Chair (ZC) Region Chair (RC) is
responsible for promoting those goals at each
club visit /or event we attend
3Zone Chair Responsibilities
- Act as the primary liaison between the clubs
the district - Complete How Healthy is Your Club assessment with
each club president prior to 10/1/06 submit
copies of each clubs How Healthy is Your Club
assessment forms to the VDG RC - Attend at least 2 club meetings for each of your
clubs throughout the year. The first to occur
prior to January 1, 2007. During these visits
make a brief presentation in support of district
goals - Assure monthly M reports are filed with LCI
forwarded to the DG, VDG, RC ZC by the 5th of
the month - Attend District Cabinet Meetings 4x/yr
- Conduct a Zone Meeting or Regional Zone Meeting
within 2 weeks of the first three cabinet meetings

- Attend Zone/Region Chair Training
- Conduct induction ceremonies present awards
- Request to conduct annual orientation
presentations to each club - Play an active role in the district MERLOW team
- Find your replacement and consider bringing
him/her on as a co-chair to provide hands-on
training leadership continuity - Assemble a file/notebook of pertinent information
during your term of office give it to your
successor to help provide a smooth transition - Use your budgeted funds appropriately
5Region Chair Responsibilities
- Be aware of club strengths weaknesses
- Identify any weak clubs work with the ZC to
strengthen them - Motivate provide ongoing feedback to your ZCs
- Act as the DGs representative at zone club
meetings - Assist ZCs in implementing district programs at
the club level - Attend at least 1 club meeting/year for each club
in your region. During these visits make a brief
presentation in support of district goals. - Be available to conduct officer installation
member induction ceremonies - Assist the ZCs in member orientation
presentations - Educate ZC about their responsibilities monitor
their success

- Evaluate ZC performance at zone meetings
- Ensure that the ZC reports are completed
submitted in a timely manner - Complete submit all reports in a timely manner
- Actively pursue encourage club/ member
involvement at the District level - Promote officer leadership training
- Attend all cabinet meetings
- Attend as many zone meetings as possible in your
region - Assemble a file/notebook of pertinent information
during your term of office give it to your
successor to help provide a smooth transition. - Use your budgeted funds appropriately.

member base - Extension looks for opportunities to create new
Lions clubs - Retention supports clubs in keeping their
members - Leadership provides annual leadership officer
training - Orientation creates maintains a member

growth in the district

- Created in January 2004
- Goal Help clubs increase membership decrease
drops - Identified 15 characteristics that alone or in
combination could indicate a troubled club

- Worksheet designed to help incoming club
presidents assess their clubs strengths
weaknesses - ZC sits down with incoming club presidents to
complete worksheet as early in the year as
possible - ZC uses info to tailor their assistance

11Cabinet Meetings
- 4x / year
- Primary source of info for your zone meeting
- Opportunity to interact w/other ZC, RC, committee
chairs the MERLOW team face-to-face
12Zone Meetings - ASAP
- Schedule your zone meetings for the year (date,
times, location) as soon as you receive your
cabinet meeting schedule - Scheduled within 2 weeks of a cabinet meeting
- Coordinate dates w/ your RC so as not to overlap
w/other zone meetings in your region - Notify your RC, VDG, DG newsletter editor of
this schedule - At minimum invite/notify your club presidents,
secretaries membership chair to the meetings - Ensure that clubs are aware that these meetings
are open to all members
13Zone Meetings 2 Weeks Prior
- Confirm location details with restaurant / host
club. - Send out a meeting invitation 2 weeks in advance
to each club president, secretary and membership
chair requesting an RSVP within a week.
14Zone Meetings 1 Week Prior
- Follow-up with any invitees not heard from via
phone. - Confirm any guest speakers that will be
presenting at your meeting (district committee
chairs, WLF directors, etc.) - If possible, provide an agenda to all.
15Zone Meetings Day Of
- Make enough copies of the agenda for all
attendees. - Organize handouts.
- Go over your agenda/notes to make sure you have
all the information you need.

21Club Meetings
- ZCs - Attend first meeting before January 1 your
2nd club visit should be as needed or by
year-end. Club events are not an official visit.
Make prepared district goals remarks to the club. - ZCs/RCs must complete submit a Club Meeting
Visit Report to the clubs ZC or RC as
appropriate VDG after each club visit. - Clubs that are weak or struggling may require
more support than 2 meetings/year. - Educate all club officers about the district
committees available to support their local
committees. - Install new members and induct new officers. Be
prepared to present awards upon request. - You should also instill in the clubs an awareness
of Lionism beyond the club including district,
state and international. - Ensure your clubs are aware that you are
available to help them and participate.
