"Tampere is a city for children and young
people, where childhood and adolescence are
recognised and appreciated as being significant
phases in a person's life. In all its functions,
the city respects the rights of children and
young people to have access to versatile,
high-quality services, to participate and to have
a say as well as their rights to access to every
form of well-being and protection. THE CHILD

A FORERUNNER IN CHILD AND YOUTH POLICY IN FINLAND
  • A specific child and youth policy programme for
    promoting the well-being of children, young
    people and families since 1999 (revised in 2007)
  • The post of Finlands first municipal Childrens
    Ombudsman was founded in 2003
  • provides information and monitors the development
    of well-being of children and young people
  • creates opportunities for children and young
    people to communicate their opinions and needs
  • co-ordinates child and youth work
  • promotes co-operation between all child and young
    people instances
  • The Childrens Parliament and the Open Youth
    Forum were made permanent in 2004

Conference Organisation
  • The conference will be organised by the
    above-mentioned host organisations
  • The Local Organising Committee (LOC) will be
    formed of Finnish academics, policy makers and
    practitioners representing organisations in the
    field
  • The Local Scientific Committee (LSC) will be
    formed of the representatives of main research
    and professional organisations involved in child
    abuse and neglect prevention in Finland and the
    Nordic countries
  • ? All arrangements will be accomplished in close
    co-operation with ISPCAN Head Office

    of low voting rate
  • Young people are far from politics, they are not
    interested about it
  • Politicians think participation of children and
    young people is important
  • Appreciation respect every child and youngster
    as a person
  • Democracy of citizens Youth participation is
    part of it

Expansion of the Students Unions activity to

    the beginning of the 2004 a part of Youths

    grades)
