phases in a person's life. In all its functions,
the city respects the rights of children and
young people to have access to versatile,
high-quality services, to participate and to have
a say as well as their rights to access to every

A FORERUNNER IN CHILD AND YOUTH POLICY IN FINLAND

• A specific child and youth policy programme for
  promoting the well-being of children, young
  people and families since 1999 (revised in 2007)
• The post of Finlands first municipal Childrens
  Ombudsman was founded in 2003
• provides information and monitors the development
  of well-being of children and young people
• creates opportunities for children and young
  people to communicate their opinions and needs
• co-ordinates child and youth work
• promotes co-operation between all child and young
  people instances
• The Childrens Parliament and the Open Youth
  Forum were made permanent in 2004
• A Deputy Mayor to Support Growth of Children and
  Youth 2007

Conference Organisation

• The conference will be organised by the
  above-mentioned host organisations
• The Local Organising Committee (LOC) will be
  formed of Finnish academics, policy makers and
  practitioners representing organisations in the
  field
• The Local Scientific Committee (LSC) will be
  formed of the representatives of main research
  and professional organisations involved in child
  abuse and neglect prevention in Finland and the
  Nordic countries
• ? All arrangements will be accomplished in close
  co-operation with ISPCAN Head Office

• Young people are far from politics, they are not
  interested about it

The Childrens Parliament

• started in the 2001 by The LOVE Project from
  the beginning of the 2004 a part of Youths
  Services in the City of Tampere
• to give an opportunity to participate and to
  influence on childrens own school, environment
  and city
• a place where children can make suggestions
• representatives from comprehensive school (4-6
  grades)
• two meetings in a council hall in a year
• a board and three active committees
