4
Rectus Femoris
  • The rectus femoris muscle is one of quadriceps
    muscles.
  • It goes from the hip to the knee and can be used
to straighten the knee or lift the knee up.

5
Rectus Femoris
  • Origin
  • anterior head anterior inferior iliac spine
    (AIIS)
  • posterior head ilium just above the acetabulum
  • Attachment
  • common quadriceps tendon into patella
  • patellar ligament

6
Rectus Femoris
7
Gastrocnemius
  • the muscle in the back part of the leg that forms
the greater part of the calf
  • the most superficial of the muscles of the
posterior compartment of the lower limb distal to
    the knee.
  • It acts to plantar flex the foot at the ankle and
    raise the heel during walking

8
Gastrocnemius
  • Origin
  • medial head just above medial condyle of femur
  • lateral head just above lateral condyle of femur
  • Attachment
  • Achilles Tendon

9
Gastrocnemius
10
Gluteus Maximus
  • is one of the largest and strongest muscles in
    the body.
  • the most superficial muscle in the gluteal region
  • broad and thick fleshy mass of a quadrilateral
    shape.
  • Extends and rotates hip. Maintain knee extension.

11
Gluteus Maximus
  • Origin
  • outer rim of ilium
  • dorsal surface of sacrum and coccyx
  • sacrotuberous ligament
  • Attachment
  • IT band (primary insertion)
  • gluteal tuberosity of femur

12
Gluteus Maximus
13
Rectus Abdominus
  • Rectus abdominis controls the tilt of the pelvis
and curvature of the lower spine.
  • Also known as abs

14
Rectus Abdominus
  • Origin
  • pubis
  • Insertion
  • cartilage of 5th - 7th ribs
