Positioning
  • During your lessons, you should figure out your
positioning on the board. This consists of two
    factors
  • Footing
  • Stance

6
Footing
  • There are two types of footing, you will choose
the one most comfortable for you
  • Regular left foot forward
  • Goofy Right foot forward

7
Stance
  • Stance refers to the position of the feet within
the footing. Many people choose to angle their
feet forward, but everyone is different.
  • As you get more experienced, you will find the
stance that is best for you.

8
On The Mountain
  • Once you make it to the slopes, its important to
    start small.
  • Begin your day by simply standing on the board
and strapping yourself in on a flat surface.

9
On The Mountain (cont.)
  • After you feel comfortable on a flat surface,
move on to a bunny slope.
  • Strap yourself in at the top and stand up with
the board perpendicular to the hillside.

10
On The Mountain (cont.)
  • Once you feel comfortable, you can begin your
downhill descent by turning the board toward so
that your front foot is facing down the slope.
  • Practice simple turns and stops as you go down
    the hill.

11
Chairlifts
  • Being able to get on and off is very important in
    preventing both injury and embarrassment.
  • Getting On
  • Position yourself at the line where the lift
operator instructs you to stand with your
front foot in the binding and your other foot
    free.
  • Allow the chairlift to come all the way to
    your legs and sit down.

12
Chairlifts (cont)
  • Getting Off
  • Once you get to the top of the mountain or
slope, there will be another lift operator
    waiting to assist you.
  • Place you front foot, which should still be the
only one strapped in, on the flat surface, place
your other foot in between the bindings and coast
down the hill to a stop.
  • A great item to aid in this process is a stomp
pad, which gives your back foot more grip.

challenges trying to get acquainted with the
