3
Jesus as a Baby
  • He had a normal birth (Luke 21-7)
  • In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree
that a census should be taken of the entire Roman
world. (This was the first census that took place
while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And
everyone went to his own town to register.  So
Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in
Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David,
because he belonged to the house and line of
David. He went there to register with Mary, who
was pledged to be married to him and was
expecting a child. While they were there, the
time came for the baby to be born, and she gave
birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in
cloths and placed him in a manger, because there
was no room for them in the inn.

4
Jesus as a Baby
  • He had a poor family
  • He was questionable, or was an appearance of
    illegitimacy

5
Jesus as the Creator
  • John 11-3, 14
  • (11-3) In the beginning was the Word, and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was
with God in the beginning.  Through him all
things were made without him nothing was made
    that has been made.
  • (14) The Word became flesh and made his dwelling
among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of
the One and Only, who came from the Father, full
    of grace and truth.

6
Jesus as the Dying Savior
  • Luke 211
  • Today in the town of David a Savior has been born
to you he is Christ the Lord.
  • 1 Peter 224
  • He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree,
so that we might die to sins and live for
righteousness by his wounds you have been healed.

7
Jesus as the Empowering Lord
  • Galatians 220
  • I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer
live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in
the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who
loved me and gave himself for me.

8
Jesus as the Final Judge and Returning King
  • Revelations 1911-15
  • I saw heaven standing open and there before me
was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful
and True. With justice he judges and makes war.
His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head
are many crowns. He has a name written on him
that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed
in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the
Word of God. The armies of heaven were following
him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine
linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a
sharp sword with which to strike down the
nations. "He will rule them with an iron
scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of
    the wrath of God Almighty.
