Title: Getting ready for Hajj

1
Getting ready for Hajj
  • First of all go to Masjid ul Haraam.
  • Now cover your head with your Ihram and perform
2 Raka't with the intention of Ihraam
  • Uncover your head and make the niyyah
(intention) for Hajj and then recite Talibiyah

Hajj Qiraan You made your intention for Hajj
when you made your intention for Umrah, so you
should already be in the state of Ihraam, and
need not make another intention
Hajj Ifraad - You enter the state of Ihraam with
the intention of Hajj only
Hajj Tammattu You must re-enter the state of
Ihraam before you leave for Mina on the 8th
In all cases, the intention will be
O Allah! I make an intention to perform Hajj.
Make it easy for me and accept it from me
2
Getting ready for Hajj
Haj Qiraan - Tammattu - Ifraad
You have now entered the state of ihram
You now have two options If you wish, you can
now perform your Hajj Saee, so you dont have to
perform it after your Tawaaf e Ziyaarah. However
saee cannot be performed without Tawaaf, so if
you were to do perform your Hajj Saee now, you
would first have to perform a Nafl Tawaaf and
then follow it up with the Saee. Your tawaaf
would require Idtiba (leaving your shoulder
uncovered) and Ramal (jogging instead of walking)
in the first three rounds.

Day 2 - 9th Zul Hajjah
Leave Mina and head for Arafat after sunrise, not
before. Keep reciting the Talibiyah, praying,
asking for forgiveness and sending Durood to the
Prophet (saw)
You must now stay at Arafat. This is called the
wuqoof. Staying in Arafat is the core rite of
Hajj and must be done. Failing to stay in Arafat
during the allotted times will mean your Hajj is
not done. The Wuqoof (stay at Arafat) starts
from Zawaal (midday) on the 9th Zul Hajj (the
second day of Hajj), and ends at Sub'h Sadiq
(Dawn Fajr Beginning time) on the 10th Zul Hajj
(The third day of Hajj). If you arrive early,
take a rest and conserve your energy. After
midday, remain engaged in Durood Shareef, Dhikr,
Tasbeeh, praise Allah and recite the Talbiyah.
Pray for yourself, your family and your friends,
and the whole Ummah.
You must spend some time in Arafat, at the very
least, until sunset. You cannot leave Arafat
before sunset
Do also remember in your Duaa all those
associated with the production of this guide

Day 2 - 9th Zul Hajjah
At Arafah, there is a mosque called Masjid Nimrah
where you can pray your Salaah, but it is very
difficult getting there If you manage to get to
Masjid Nimrah then you will pray Zuhr and
Asr Salaah together at Zuhr time If you pray
Zuhr and Asr in your tent, then you will pray
them separately at their appropriate times.
Very important You are advised not to go to
Masjid Nimrah, because at Arafat, all the tents
look exactly the same and it is very easy to get
lost in the congestion. And although it is
virtuous to stand near Jabl Rahmat, you should be
wary about straying too far from your tent as you
may find it difficult getting back
6
Duaa for Arafat
At Arafah, there are a some things that you are
encouraged to pray. These include
  • 100 x fourth Kalimah
  • 100 x Surah Ikhlas (Qul Huwallahu Ahad surah
    112)
  • 100 x Durood e Ibraaheem - (Add Waalaynaa
maahum at the end of every Durood shareef)

It is stated that when you read the prayers above
after Zawaal (midday) at Arafat, facing Qiblah,
Allah responds
Oh my Angels! What is the reward of my servant
who glorified Me, praised Me, mentioned my
Oneness and Greatness and sent salutations on my
Prophet SAW? I have forgiven him, and accepted
his request regarding his needs, and if my
servant Intercedes for all who are in Arafat. I
will accept it he can ask for whatever he
wishes.
Remain in worship for all the time you are in
Arafat cry as you ask for His mercy and
forgiveness. Pray for everyone and pray for
yourself.

Muzdalifah
Zakariyya Publications 44 (0) 7845 000 497
  • While at Muzdalifah, collect 70 pebbles, the
size of a pea or date seed to pelt Jamaraats
(three stone pillars symbolising Shaytaan) and
store the stones safely away in a pouch. Try to
collect more than you need, just in case you lose
some of yours or someone else loses theirs.
  • Make sure you are collecting pebbles, as some
times you can pick up sheep droppings, date seeds
or other objects. Also, make sure the stones are
    collected from a clean place.

70 pebbles must be collected
7 Pebbles for Day 3 (10th Zul Hijjah)
21 Pebbles for Day 4 (11th Zul Hijjah)
21 Pebbles for Day 5 (12th Zul Hijjah)
21 Pebbles for Day 6 (13th Zul Hijjah) If you are
going to pelt the Jamraats today, you
will need these. Sometimes, due to unforeseen
circumstances (weather, illness) you
might end up staying this extra day even
if you dont intend to. You must plan for
such an emergency and are advised to
collect 21 pebbles for this day too
It is also permissible to collect these pebbles
from places other than Muzdalifah

Day 3 - 10th Zul Hajjah
Pelting Times are from Ishraaq (after sunrise)
until Subh Saadiq (Fajr beginning time) of the
next day
Come to the large Jamaraat and stand at a
distance of about two and a half yards or more.
You should pelt in such a way that masjid Kayf is
to your Right and makkah to your left. However,
you can pelt from whichever direction you want.
Stop reciting Talibiyah now and aim Seven
pebbles, one at a time, at the Jamaraat. Hold the
pebble in your right hand between your index
finger and thumb (as if you are throwing a dart)
and recite Bismillahi Allahu Akbar as you
throw each pebble. You have now finished the days
stoning.
Back to Mina
Small Jamaraat
Medium Jamaraat
Large Jamaraat
Make sure the pebbles hit the Jamaraat and land
inside the wall, as otherwise the throw is not
valid. You can only Pelt the Shaytaan on behalf
of others with a valid Shareeah excuse
congestion or rush is not a Sharee excuse

Hajj Tammatu

  • The time for Tawaaf Ziyaarah begins at Subh
Sadiq (Fajr beginning time) on the 10th Zul

it is more virtuous to perform it on 10th Zul

    Ziyaarah
  • After the tawaaf, offer two Nafl Rakaats, make
Duaa, then drink some Zam Zam.

begins at Zawaal and ends at Subh Sadiq

seven pebbles at it, one at a time. Hold each
pebble between the index finger and Thumb of your

the side and facing Qibla, make duaa.
  • Now walk to the Middle Jamaraat and follow the
same steps as you did with the Small jamaraat.
  • Now walk to the large jamaraat and throw seven
more pebbles at it as you did with the other

Ziyaarah in Makkah
Masjids
Masjid Jinn - Also known as Masjid Bayah. One
day the Prophet (S.A.W.) was reciting the Qur-aan
when a group of Jinn flew past. They were greatly
affected by words of the Qur-aan. They came to
the Prophet, repented of their sins and accepted
Islam. Their repentence was accepted. A masjid
was later built here called Masjid-e-Jinn.
Masjid Nimrah - It is the place where Prophet
Muhammad (S. A. W.) delivered the last historic
sermon (Khutba).  Every year on 9th Zul Hajj, the
Khutba of Hajj is delivered from this great
mosque. On Haj day (the 9th Zul hajj) Zuhr and
Asar salat (prayers) are offered jointly here.

Masjids
MASJID-E-KHEEF It is a big and famous mosque at
Mina. "Kheef' means valley. There is in a
narrative that seventy Prophets are taking rest
(buried) here. This mosque has an eight-faceted
dome where, as reported in narratives, many
Prophets offered prayers. The tent of the Holy
Prophet was also pitched here.
Masjid -e- Aisha (Taneem) - situated a few
kilometres away from "Masjid-ul-Haram". It is the
place from where the people of Makkah, wear
"Ihram" if they want to perform Umrah.
Once Prophet Muhammad (S. A. W.) was coming to
Makkah with his wife Aisha (RA)" and other
companions, for performing Umrah. Ummul
Moumeneen, Syeda Aisha (RA), could not wear
Ihraam" because of some unavoidable reasons.
During the stay in Makkah, when she expressed her
desire to perform Umrah, Prophet Muhammad SAW
allowed her to go to outside Makkah (to Taneem)
for wearing "Ihraam".
23
Jabal-e-Noor (Mount of Light)
Ziyaarah in Makkah
The mountain is named "Jabal-e-Noor". On the top
of this mountain is a cave which is known as
"HIRA".
It was narrated by Aisha R.A that the Prophet
(Pbuh) used to frequently go to the Hira Cave
because he was saddened and sick of the corrupt
society around him. One glorious day the
Archangel Jibreel AS descended upon him and
urged him to read, but the Prophet (Pbuh) was
reluctant, because he was unlettered. Yet, the
Archangel insisted again and again (three times),
until the Prophet (Pbuh) finally acceded to his
request and started to recite.
Read! in the name of your Lord , who created man
from a clot. Read! in the name of your God, the
Most Bountiful, who taught by means of the pen,
and taught man what he did not know. (Qur'an 96
1-5)

Cave of mount Thaur
Ziyaarah in Makkah
This Mountain has a cave in which the Holy
Prophet SAW and Abu Bakr RA took Refuge at
the time of their migration to Madinah, from the
Quraish who sent search parties to hunt them down.
One party came dangerously close to the entrance
to the cave. Abu Bakr R.A felt very uneasy. The
Holy Prophet consoled him, and said "Fear not,
for Allah is with us. " And verily Allah was
with them. A spider spun its web across the
entrance. When the enemy's came upon the cave,
they were fooled into thinking that no one was in
the cave because they would have broken the
spider's web going in.
"He being the second of the two When they were in
the cave, And when Muhammad said to his
companion, 'Grieve not, surely God is with us'.
Then Allah came to their help. And protected them
with an army Which they saw not." 940

Jabal-e-Abu Qubays
The Event of the Splitting of the Moon occurred
on this mount. The Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.)
split the moon in two parts by just pointing at
it with his Index Finger. Both parts of Moon
travelled in opposite directions for a while
before joining once again. Today, in its place,
is a palace of the ruler of Saudi Arabia. It is
next to Safaa.

Ziyaarah in Makkah
Jabal-e-Rahmat.
In Arafah, there is mount named "Jabal-e-Rehmat"
where a white pillar has been built. This pillar
marks the point where Adam (AS) and Hawwa (EVE
(AS))" were brought back together after being
separated in Heaven on the order of Allah. It was
through the great mercy of Allah that they were
brought back together, and because of this, this
mount is called The Mercy of Mount
(Jabal-e-Rehmat).
