I don't search for bland kind of beauty, but for
strength and emotion... I don't focus on anatomy
because there is poetry in imperfection. Knowing
when to stop in order to avoid spoiling the
sculpture demands vigilance. The grain of
chamotte clay helps me to maintain a course
finish. I would evern like to enhance this
"incomplete" look further. The essence of life is
not found on the body's surface but deep
inside. It would be futile to smooth and refine
the life out of my work. The absence of a
detailed physique makes the spirit more visible.

Sculptor and designer, Jurga also says Sculpture
must stop passers-by, speak to them and enliven a
moment of their life. It must surprise them, move
them, make them want to touch, to smile, to
dream, to have their photo taken next to them.
Sculpture is only successful if it brings dreams,
poetry, love into our daily lives.

JURGA is a young woman born in 1977 in Lithuania.
But it was in France, under the name Jurga
Sculpteur, that she quickly got noticed on social
networks. His sculptures arouse the enthusiasm of
all generations of art lovers. JURGA's workshop
is located in Burgundy but she divides her time
between modelling clay in her workshop and the
Barthelemy Art art foundry which is located in
Drôme. JURGA has commissioned monumental
sculptures for several cities Saint-Valery-sur-So
mme, Le Havre, Rouen. These large sculptures
often represent young women or girls, but
sometimes they are sculptures of young boys. The
