Cold Water Aquarium Plants - Aqua Essentials

Description:

These live aquarium plants are suitable for 'cooler waters'. In general most types of aquatic plants originate from tropical climates meaning they prefer their water about 20C minimum. However this range of aquatic plants are happy in cold water making them ideal for goldfish tanks. Caring for cold water aquatic plants is generally easier as they are less demanding because they grow slower than tropical aquarium plants. Nevertheless, these live aquarium plants still need fertilizers so consider using Neutro T as a suitable type. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Coldwater Plants
  • These live aquarium plants are suitable for
'cooler waters'. In general most types of aquatic
plants originate from tropical climates meaning
they prefer their water about 20C minimum.
However this range of aquatic plants are happy in
cold water making them ideal for goldfish tanks.
Caring for cold water aquatic plants is generally
easier as they are less demanding because they
grow slower than tropical aquarium plants.
Nevertheless, these live aquarium plants still
need fertilizers so consider using Neutro T as a
    suitable type. Learn more

Ceratophyllum demersum (Hornwort)
  • A fast growing plant with very fine needle-like
leaves. As the plant grows so fast it competes
with algae, so is an ideal plant for a starter
aquarium and ponds. The plant should be pruned
regularly to keep its form and encourage new
    growth.

Lysimachia nummularia 'aurea'
  • Extremely similar to the standard nummularia
however the Lysimachia nummularia 'aurea' but
yellow as opposed to green. This plant will
decorate your tank with different strains of
light and dark golden stems and looks
particularly good if planted amongst some darker
    plants or rocks.

Tropica Salvinia auriculata 1-2-GROW!
  • Salvinia auriculata is a cosmopolitic floating
fern, 1-3 cm, that grows quickly if there is
sufficient nutrition and light. Light leaves are
a sign of a shortage of micronutrients. It tends
to shade light from the plants at the bottom.
Salvinia varieties have small hairs on their
leaves, making them water resistant. Helps
prevent algae by shading parts of the aquarium
and using nutrients in the water. Grows very big
in the wild and in optimum conditions. A
    decorative plant for open aquariums.

Aponogeton ulvaceus (WITH LEAVES)
  • Originating from Madagascar the Aponogeton
ulvaceus Bulb is a beautiful centre piece for
your tank. This bulb has bright green
vellum-like, heavy crimpled leaves. The older
bulbs can grow up to 50 leaves given the right
    conditions!!!!
  • This plant grows QUICKLY in the aquarium too
under basic conditions. We provide it will very
little light and it grows even with little water
movement. We've tried it under faster water
movement and it loves that too which means this
plant is suitable for beginners and up. In terms
of positioning, obviously, the background is the
only suitable location. Simply drop it into the
chosen location and leave it be. It will throw
    roots down and anchor itself.
