About This Presentation
Title:

How Do Solar Panels Work?

Description:

Solar panels work by absorbing sunlight through semiconductor materials, like silicon. When sunlight hits these panels, it energizes electrons, creating an electric voltage. This flow of electrons generates direct current (DC) electricity, which is then converted into usable alternating current (AC) electricity through an inverter. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Title: How Do Solar Panels Work?

1
HOW DO SOLAR PANELS WORK?
Solar panels work on a simple principle the
photovoltaic effect. Here's a breakdown of the
process
2
ABSORPTION OF SUNLIGHT
solar panels are composed of many solar cells
made of semiconductor materials, usually silicon.
When sunlight hits these cells, they absorb
photons.
3
GENERATION OF ELECTRONS
The absorbed photons energize the electrons in
the semiconductor material, causing them to
become "excited" and creating an electric voltage.
4
DIRECT CURRENT GENERATION
The excited electrons flow through the material
in a specific direction, creating a direct
current of electricity.
5
INVERTER CONVERSION
Since most of our appliances and grid systems use
alternating current (AC), an inverter is used to
convert the DC electricity generated by solar
panels into AC.
6
UTILIZATION
The converted AC electricity can now be used to
power homes and businesses, or be fed into the
grid for others to use.
