Introduction

• The ILA was founded in Brussels in 1873, with the
  belief that international law is key to peace,
  justice and development in a globalized world.
  Its constitutional objectives are the study,
  clarification and development of international
  law, both public and private, and the furtherance
  of international understanding and respect for
  international law. The ILA has consultative
  status, as an international non-governmental
  organization, with a number of the United Nations
  specialized agencies.

• Organizing special events, such as public
  lectures and other functions of relevance to
  international law
• Supporting members to join international
  committees and study groups of the ILA, which
  conduct research and prepare resolutions and
  reports that influence the development of
  international law
• Publishing the Australian International Law
  Journal and the ILA Reporter, which is the
  official blog and provides leading analysis,
  commentary and discussion on issues in public and
  private international law
