Building Energy Benchmarking Program

Description:

Energy Benchmarking is a method used to determine whether a building is using more or less energy than its peer facilities with similar occupancies, climates, and sizes. Benchmarking is done by taking a buildings total energy use (typically converted to kBtu in the US and Watts elsewhere) and dividing by the building's total area. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

About Us
  • Jimmy Carchiettas strong passion for green and
energy-efficient buildings is rooted in his love
and devotion to his family and his 25 years plus
of experience in large-scale contracting. As an
infant, Carchiettas eldest son was diagnosed
with a rare cancer, attributed to environmental
contamination on Long Island. This crisis
    radicalized Carchiettas consciousness and put
him on the path to creating the Cotocon Group.
He encountered a renewed sense of responsibility
for the environment that would extend to not only
his children but the world we would all inherit.
He clearly saw what he, with his practical
real-world building experience was destined to
accomplish and made a decision to enter and
contribute towards a greener built environment.

What is energy benchmarking?
  • Energy benchmarking means assessing and analyzing
the energy and water use of a building and then
comparing it to the buildings past performance,
similar buildings, or modeled simulations of a
reference building at a certain standard.

Benefits Of Energy Benchmarking?
  • Energy benchmarking is a term frequently
mentioned when talking about energy management
    and sustainability reporting. Many online
benchmarking tools exist, such as GRESB and
ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, to name a few.
These tools allow users to measure their
    buildings against national standards of
sustainability and efficiency. Having a GRESB or
ENERGY STAR certified portfolio is extremely
beneficial it proves to clients, investors, and
employees that you value the wellbeing of the
    planet and its inhabitants.
