Am I the candidate for a Kidney Cancer?
The kidneys are the organ of origin for kidney
cancer. It develops when a mass of normally
functioning kidney cells grows abnormally in one
or both organs (called a tumour).
Am I the candidate for Kidney cancer
People between the ages of 65 and 74 have the
highest incidence of developing kidney cancer.
The prevalence of the condition in men is higher
than in women. Cancer of the kidney is quite
unusual in young people. However, every year
around 500600 children are diagnosed with a
Wilms tumour (a type of kidney cancer).
How would I know the indicators of kidney cancer
progression?
In its earliest stages, kidney cancer may not
cause any symptoms. However, signs and symptoms
may emerge as the tumour develops. Although the
precise reason for developing kidney cancer is
unknown, some recognised risk factors can raise
your odds of developing the disease. Such things
consist of
3
  • Smoking
  • Obesity
  • Elevated blood pressure, sometimes called
    hypertension,
  • In the field of radiation therapy,
  • Changes (mutations) to the genetic code
  • Chronic dialysis
  • Complex Tuberous Sclerosis
  • Illness caused by the von Hippel-Lindau gene
    (VHL)

Individuals carrying this genetic abnormality are
at a higher risk of developing kidney cancer.
This condition causes benign tumours to form
inside your blood vessels, most frequently in
your eyes and brain.
What are the different stages of kidney cancer?
The staging of cancer is a valuable diagnostic
tool and categorisation system for many different
types of disease. Stages of cancer are classified
according to
  • What its exact location is and its approximate
    size
  • How badly your lymph nodes are affected.
  • Whether or if cancer has spread to other organs
and tissues, and how far it has spread.

4
The results of numerous diagnostic procedures,
such as a CT scan, MRI, and biopsy, help your
doctor establish the extent of the malignancy.
Stage 1 - Your kidney tumour measures less than 7
centimetres (cm) in diameter. There has been no
metastasis to lymph nodes or other organs. (Lymph
nodes are like little "filters" that store white
blood cells that can be deployed to fight
infections and cancer cells.
Stage 2 - The tumour is greater than 7 cm across
but is still only in your kidney. No other organs
or tissues have been affected.
5
Stage 3 - Your kidney, the tissue around your
kidney, or nearby lymph nodes have all been
affected by the tumor's spread.
Stage 4 - There has been metastasis, or spread,
of the tumour from the kidney to nearby
structures like the adrenal gland, to lymph
nodes, and eventually to other organs.
Tests and techniques used to diagnose kidney
carcinoma include -
Tests for blood, urine.
Your doctor may be able to figure out what's
wrong with you by analysing the results of blood
and urine tests.
Tests using imaging equipment.
A kidney tumour or abnormality can be seen
clearly with the help of imaging testing.
Diagnostic imaging procedures could include
ultrasound, X-ray, CT scan, or MRI.
Taking a kidney tissue sample (biopsy).
A kidney biopsy is a process in which a small
sample of cells is removed from a suspicious
location to test for the disease. Cancer-related
indicators are sought out by laboratory testing
of the material. It is not always necessary to
perform this method.
6
Am I the candidate for Kidney Cancer Treatment
The prognosis for patients with kidney cancer
varies according to the tumour's stage, grade,
the patient's age, and the patient's general
condition. Options range from surgery and
immunotherapy to chemotherapy, radiation therapy,
and targeted medication therapy.
