What Decorative Look Are You Going For?
3
Once you've decided that a wood fence is a right
choice for your property, you'll need to think
about the style and design of your fence. If
you're looking to add an ornate touch to your
property, a decorative wood fence may be the way
to go.
4
Post-and-Rail
One of the most classic designs of wooden fences
features vertical posts with horizontal rails
across the top. This classic look works great on
picket fences or decorative wood fences.
5
Picket Fence
If you're looking to create a classic, simple
look, consider installing a picket fence. This is
the most common type of wood fence and it can be
used indoors or outdoors depending on the amount
of privacy you need.
6
Single Slat Fence
This type of fence looks great if you're trying
to maximize security and minimize visibility
through your fence. It also adds stability to
your property with its diagonal design.
7
Double Slat Fence
his option offers better security than single
slats, but it also looks better depending on your
property and where you want to place the fence.
8
Double Slat with a Post Cap
This type of wooden fence features a see-through
bottom rail and a picket cap on top. This style
is great for outdoor privacy, looks great in the
right areas, and provides extra security.
9
Board Batten
This style is particularly popular in urban areas
where you want to install a wood fence that
offers maximum security and minimal maintenance.
It's also ideal if privacy is not an issue. The
board and batten fence has horizontal boards
across the top of the fence (with vertical
battens) at 6' picket spacing (.75"-2").
10
Or if you'd like a simpler appearance, consider
installing a split rail fence (which is VERY
common in rural and suburban areas).
