Title: How Does Whey Protein Affect Weight

1
How Does Whey Protein Affect Weight
  • Before going into the details of the answer, let
me talk a little about whey protein. Whey protein
is obtained from milk and is said to contain 9
essential amino acids. Whey protein and casein
are the two proteins found in milk. Casein
digests slowly in the body when compared to whey
    protein.

Types of Whey Proteins
  • Whey Concentrate It is formed when liquid whey
undergoes microfiltration. It consists of 70-80
protein and is cheaper compared to the other
    types.
  • Whey Isolate It is formed when whey concentrate
undergoes further processing. It has 90 protein.
It is costlier than concentrate. It has
relatively lesser amounts of fats and sugar in it
    than concentrate.
  • Whey Hydrolysate When the isolate is processed,
then whey hydrolysate is formed. This is the
costliest type since it is highly processed and
in pre-digested form. It is easy for the body to
    absorb.

Does whey protein make you gain weight?
  • Whey protein can make you gain muscle. This is
why it is widely used by people who want to visit
the gym as well as by athletes. If you have whey
protein powder in milk, you can put on weight
since milk contains fat. If you have whey protein
powder in water, it can help you develop lean
muscle. Some protein powders add additives like
sugar, and vegetable oil and fat, which might
cause you to put on weight. But there are other
options where these things are not added. If you
are going in for flavoured protein powders, then
I suggest you avoid artificial sweeteners like
Ace-K, Sucralose, etc. It is best to go with
unflavoured ones as they have less additives and
    chemicals.
