Abstract
Methods and Materials
Results
In addition to the lack of up-to-date information
and its sometimes neglect, problems and
obstacles are produced that may lead to greater
problems. This poster shows the possible risks as
a result of neglect and failure to take into
account the slopes and elevation of the area,
due to its great contribution to the better use
of the land. This poster also provides the
materials and applications used to create the
appropriate and required maps. After following
the steps, it is possible to obtain accurate
slope and elevation maps and benefit from them
in the long run. Such maps can contribute
significantly to solving important natural and
economic problems, as well as facilitating and
high efficiency in agricultural fields.
- In order to provide new and modern maps of the
Kurdistan region, it is necessary to download
recent maps using the USGS website, where maps
can be downloaded on a monthly basis. After
downloading the maps, the following steps and
materials are followed - Insert the elevation map into the ArcMap program.
- Go to the ArcToolbox ? Spatial Analyst Tools ?
surface ? - slope.
- A map of the slopes of the Kurdistan Region is
obtained. - Using ArcScene, the elevation map is inserted
again. - The map is modified and a three-dimensional map
of the elevations of the Kurdistan region is
obtained.

Introduction
Figure 3 below shows the elevation map of
Kurdistan that is used to create the other TWO
maps.
- Iraqi Kurdistan, often known as the Kurdistan
Area, is a self- governing region of Iraq. It is
bordered on the east by Iran, on the north by
Turkey, on the west by Syria, and on the south by
the remainder of Iraq. Erbil, commonly known as
Hawler, is the regional capital. The Kurdistan
Regional Government is in charge of the region
(Official Tourism Site of Kurdistan, 2021). The
Kurdistan region contains many highlands and
steep slopes, especially in the northern and
northeastern regions, and flat slopes in the
southern regions. The region's lack of
information and modern maps of slopes and
elevation leads to the emergence of problems and
dire economic consequences for property, as well
as the use and distribution of lands. The most
important problems that result from not taking
into account slopes and elevations - First, safety and preparedness for natural
disasters. - Second, the damage caused by floods to public
property. - Third, choosing suitable sites for agriculture
and irrigation to avoid floods that may occur
and cause damage to agricultural crops. - Fourth, farmers' inaccurate measurements
regarding crop row
Discussion
Then, reliable and accurate modern maps are
obtained and studied, and water flow and
movement directions are known before making
decisions about land use and the location of
agricultural land.
After creating and obtaining the required maps,
it can now be used and utilized to solve many
problems and difficulties that the region may
encounter. The most prominent benefits of slope
and elevation maps

applications, and irrigation. - Fifthly and finally, economic aspects in
determining the amount of crops needed for
cultivation and thus a better use of the land.
- Choosing the best and most suitable land for
agriculture
- Providing accurate information for farmers to
benefit from in
determining crop rows, fertilizer applications
and irrigation, and
- Economic benefits of producing more crops
