Lower Back Pain Chiropractic

  • Chiropractic treatment for lower back pain can
    include spinal manipulation, spinal adjustment,
electric stimulation and ultrasound. There are
some chiropractors who perform therapy for
    musculoskeletal problems, especially back pain.
Some chiropractors combine manual therapy with
therapeutic exercise and massage to help patients
overcome back pain. In some cases, patients may
need spinal surgery to correct deformities and
    spinal trauma.

  • A chiropractor treats patients using non-surgical
methods, such as spinal manipulation, spinal
    adjustment, electric stimulation and ultrasound.
Some of these methods are performed by a licensed
professional, while others are performed at the
office by the chiropractor or other members of
his or her staff. If a chiropractor does use
anesthesia during a procedure, it is injected
directly into the spine. The purpose of this is
to correct skeletal disturbances that result in
poor posture and back pain. Anesthetic
administration may be necessary for other
procedures such as vertebroplasty and suction
    lipectomy.

  • Back pain can be caused by a number of factors.
    Common causes include improper lifting
    techniques, improper footwear, being improperly
seated for long periods of time, being physically
abused, and a weak back and posture. Chiropractic
treatment for lower back pain should address
these issues in order for the patient to regain
proper form and function. Some chiropractic
treatments used to correct the back pain can be
    quite effective.

5
  • When treating patients suffering from lower back
pain, the chiropractor will most likely start
with an examination to determine the exact cause
of the problem. After the initial examination,
the patient will be given instructions on how
best to adjust and strengthen their back and neck
    muscles. Chiropractors use manipulative
techniques to manipulate the spine and bones of
the patient. When doing this, they try to relieve
the pressure on the spinal nerves that are
    affected by the problem.
  • In order for the patient to fully recover,
chiropractic adjustments may be repeated several
times a week. This may include exercises at home.
The chiropractor will be the one to set up a
regular schedule and will closely monitor the
progress of the patient during his or her
    follow-up appointments.

  • Chiropractic treatments may not be right for
everyone. Before undergoing any type of
treatment, it is important that the patient
    research the chiropractor thoroughly and
understands what he or she will be receiving. It
is also important to consult a physician first
who can advise the patient of the proper
treatments to receive for his or her specific
    condition. Chiropractic is an appropriate
treatment option for some people while it may not
be appropriate for others. For this reason, it is
important that you talk to your doctor and a
medical professional about your back pain before
    starting any type of treatment.
