Sexual harassment at a workplace is a gross
violation of womens right to equality, life and
liberty. It creates an insecure and hostile work
environment, which discourage womens
participation in work, thereby adversely
affecting their social and economic empowerment
and the goal of inclusive growth. With this idea
the legislature enacted The Sexual Harassment of
Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and
Redressal) Act 2013 (the Act) with the
objective to provide protection against sexual
harassment of women at workplace and for the
prevention and redressal of complaints of sexual
harassment
3WHAT IS SEXUAL HARASSMENT ?
- In simple word it means Bothering someone in
sexual manner. Sexual harassment has been
identified as a term which is difficult to define
as it involves a range of behaviors. - It includes-
- Physical contact and advances
- Any other verbal, physical conduct of sexual
nature - Showing explicit content
- Sexual favors

- Sexual harassment should be affirmativelydiscusse
d at workers meetings, employer-employeemeetings,
etc. - Guidelines should be prominently displayed
tocreate awareness of the rights of
femaleemployees - The employer should assist persons affected
incases of sexual harassment by outsiders - Names and contact numbers of members of
thecomplaint committee must be prominently
displayed.

- Creating awareness of Prevention of Sexual
harassment at the Work place (POSH) by
organising gender trainings, workshops, study
circles, campaigns and consultations with key
constituents - Trainings with Govt Organizations, Corporate,
- Training of Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)
members - Workshops for targeted groups and for employees
