WHAT IS LIGHTROOM

• As a photo editor,Lightroom editing includes a
  variety of features. However, Lightroom is much
  more than a photo editor or image editing
  software.
• Lightroom helps you import, organize, manage, and
  find your images. In turn, Lightroom is photo
  management and photo editing, combined into a
  single tool.

• Lightroom is a non-destructive photo editor,
  meaning that you dont have to worry about that
  pesky save as button.
• In fact, Lightroom has no save button at all.
  All of the edits are automatically kept in your
  Lightroom catalog, which acts as your database of
  edits and history.There are certain Lightroom
  editing workshops available to learn lightroom
  editing.

What is a Catalog?

• A Lightroom catalog is a database that stores a
  record for each of your photos that contains
  three key pieces of information about each photo
  A reference to where the photo is on your
  system.

Where should I store my Lightroom Catalog?

• Single computer create a folder on your fastest
  local hard drive, name it Lightroom Catalog and
  save the catalog to this location. This is the
  fastest way Lightroom can access the catalog.
• Multiple computers create a folder on an
  external hard drive, name it Lightroom Catalog
  and save the catalog to this location. This setup
  trades speed for portability allowing access to
  any computer connected to the hard drive
