A few common football injuries (1)

Description:

Being the most hated injury, it’s caused when the hamstring muscles are pulled or torn. Based on the degree of strain caused, they can either last for a short period or a very long period. The injury lasts for a short period, when a few muscle fibres are slightly damaged while it lasts longer when they’re severely damaged. There’s no fast relief gel for this injury. The most relevant treatment involves rest, anti-inflammable medication and ice. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Hamstring Strain
Being the most hated injury, its caused when the
hamstring muscles are pulled or torn. Based on
the degree of strain caused, they can either last
for a short period or a very long period. The
injury lasts for a short period, when a few
muscle fibres are slightly damaged while it lasts
longer when theyre severely damaged. Theres no
fast relief gel for this injury. The most
relevant treatment involves rest,
anti-inflammable medication and ice.
3
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) Injury
This is an extremely serious injury that takes
place in a number of sports. The ACL is an
extremely important ligament that helps in
providing knee stability. Movements like
twisting without moving your feet and sudden
change in direction, while playing a sport.
Movements like these often cause the ACL to
stretch up to the point of tearing. The only
forms of treatment for this is physiotherapy or
surgery.
Sprained Ankle
It takes place when players constantly twist and
turn around, trying to confuse their opponents.
Regular training is important, to avoid such
injuries. It takes place when the soft tissue of
the ligament around the ankle cant keep up with
the speed expected by the mind. Treatment for
mild sprains involve icing the region. Even the
best pain relief gel cannot mimic the effect
brought about by an ice pack.
4
Knee Cartilage Tear
The knee consists of a strong fibrocartilage,
within. This injury can be caused by bending or
twisting the knee incorrectly, bearing the weight
of the upper body. This injury may not be too
common, but is definitely serious, as it can end
a players career.
Groin Strain
This is caused by over extension of muscles in
the inner thigh. Mild groin strains result in
slight pain on movement and it can be treated
with icing, to reduce the swelling and
anti-inflammatory medicines. Serious cases can
restrain walking and joint movement and it may
take weeks to heal. Physiotherapy is also
recommended.
