It is the signature dish and the best one in the
whole country. For all the meat lovers, it is a
must-try. As the Mughals entered the country,
they brought some rich food culture along with
them and it has stayed in the country or good.
Try it with naan or rice and you will end up
wanting more with each bite. The goodness of
grounded spices makes it irresistible.
3 Modur Pulav
- Sweetened rice prepared with cinnamon, a little
saffron, milk, ghee, sugar, cashew nuts, almonds,
and green cardamom takes you to heaven. One bite
and you are left with a foodgasm. The best part
about the pulav is that it is an authentic
Kashmiri dish because even the saffron used in it
is grown in Kashmir only. You would have never
tasted the distinct taste of the rice. Moreover,
we cant even start to describe the gorgeous
color of the rice.
4Matschgand

your life? - Take a bit of Matschgand and get to know

5Yogurt Lamb Curry
This authentic delicacy is cooked in yogurt as

and green cardamoms, onion paste and dry mint

and Kashmir, your trip will be incomplete if you
dont have Yakhni with steamed rice. It is a
perfect combination for a wholesome meal.
6Dum Aaloo
- Dont worry, Kashmir has options for vegetarians
as well and they are equally delicious. The
unique flavor of Dum Aaloo is due to its deep
cooking in yogurt, ginger powder, fennel, and
other hot spices. You can have this all-time
favorite dish with a plain chapatti or a naan and
the flavors will blast in your mouth.
7Kashmiri Muji Gaad
- This dish of hot spices and herbs is just
phenomenal. This dish is a mixture of vegetarian
and non-vegetarian elements. Meat is cooked with
radish or lotus stem to give it an enriched
taste. This dish is made during the festival
Gaaada Bata in December and if you are having
it, know that it is a sign of celebration around
you! The dish has a unique taste because of local
spices and herbs used in it.
8Aab Gosht
- Okay, we know this list is majorly about meat but
we cant help it. Kashmiri food is famous for its
variety of meat dishes. There are over 30 dishes
that feature meat as the main hero. This one is
one of them. Aab Ghost can be prepared in two
ways, Kashmiri and Iranian. Kashmiri Aab Ghost is
prepared in milk and several spices including
cardamom and black pepper.
9Goshtaba
- We think Kashmiris are obsessed with yogurt as
they cook most of their minced meatballs in
yogurt. This dish is similar. Goshtaba is also
known as a dish for the kings. Yogurt gravy full
of spices is cooked on royal occasions and the
royal taste is going to urge you to eat more and
more of it.
10Khambir
- It is basically a local bread that has pan shape
and has the thick crust to itself. It is made up
of whole wheat and can serve with butter tea. If

didnt! This veggie treasure is proof. This
purely vegetarian dish is basically cottage

12 Sheer Chai
- This pink colored tea is not what it looks like.
Its no Starbucks drink. It has a rich and creamy
texture to itself and is cook with special tea
leaves along with bicarbonate of soda. It is then
simmered to have a concentrated tea of red color.
On the addition of milk, it turns pink.

delicacies of Kashmir, let us take you through

saffron spices, almonds, and walnut topped with
