What is a ABS
  • An anti-lock braking system (ABS) is a safety
anti-skid braking system used on aircraft and on
land vehicles, such as cars, motorcycles, trucks
and buses. ABS operates by preventing the wheels
from locking up during braking, thereby
maintaining tractive contact with the road
    surface.

3
What is ABS Pump
  • The anti-lock braking system ensures that the
wheels are always in tractive contact when
driving by preventing the brakes from locking up
and avoid skidding. The ABS pump consists of an
ECU which monitors the speed of the rotation of
each wheel and a hydraulic unit / pump which puts
    pressure on the brakes.

4
What is ABS Ring
  • ABS Rings. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) is
fitted as standard to all modern day cars as an
additional safety measure. Under heavy braking,
the force exerted on the brake discs can cause
the wheels to lock, resulting in the car skidding
    along the road surface

5
What is ABS Sensor
  • An ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) is an enhanced
braking system which is commonly found in newer
automobiles. An anti-lock brake sensor or ABS
sensor is a type of tachometer that measures the
rotational speed of a wheel and passes it to the
    car's Engine Control Module (ECM).

6
What is ABS Hydraulic Unit
  • ABS (or anti-lock braking system) is what keeps
your wheels gripped to the road when braking
sharply and prevents them from locking up to keep
you in full control. The hydraulic unit in the
ABS system works by equalising the pressure on
each individual brake or adjusting it to stop the
    car from skidding or veering.

7
What to do When ABS light comes on
  • Your vehicle may not handle stopping on slippery
surfaces like it is designed to under heavy
braking. If both your ABS Light and brake system
light come on, this is an emergency and you need
to stop driving right away. Have your entire
brake system inspected by a certified Many Autos
    mechanic.

8
Is ABS required for city driving
  • In such situations, there is no need of ABS. But
if you are thinking to drive your vehicle on
highways at speeds beyond 50-70 mph, you probably
need ABS system to be safe. ABS just help you to
decelerate quickly and stop your car quicker than
a normal braking car. Yes, ABS in cars is useful
    on normal roads.

9
How do I get the ABS light to turn off
  • Call Many Autos and have the anti-lock brake
system checked and any necessary repairs made.
Usually this will turn off the ABS light, but not
always. If not, proceed to Step 2. Put the key
into the ignition and turn it to the Run position
the position right before the one used to engage
    the engine

10
Can ABS cause check engine light to come on
  • Yes, even a loose fuel cap can cause the Check
Engine light to come on. The fuel cap does more
than just prevent fuel from spilling out. Your
car's diagnostic systems check the fuel system
for leaks this way. If your fuel cap is loose or
doesn't seal well, the Check Engine light will
    come on.

11
Will ABS light come on if brakes are worn
  • A Many Autos mechanic can check the brake fluid
reservoir to see if the fluid needs to be topped
off or if it's a case of worn brake pads.
Mechanics say some newer cars are equipped with
sensors in the pads, which will cause the light
to come on when they wear thin.
