When You Should Use Booster Seats For Your Child

Booster Seats For Tables
  • A booster seat for table allows the whole family
to dine together anywhere, takes up less space at
home, and is especially valued by germophobe
parents apprehensive to use kids high chairs
    provided at restaurants.

  • An infant booster seat or a toddler booster seat
for table provides that extra boost for your kid
to bring them up to the level of the table, but
with the added security of the harness straps to
    avoid any accidental injuries.
  • A booster seat is also considered an excellent
transition for children into grown up chairs.

4
Three Stages Of Booster Seats
  • Children generally move through 3 stages of
    car seats or booster seats
  • Rear Facing Car Seat
  • The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
recommends babies be in rear-facing seats until
age 2, or until they reach the car seats height
or weight limit. Thats usually 30 to 60 pounds
(13.6 to 27.2 kg), depending on the seat.

5
Continue
  • Forward Facing Car Seat
  • Use a forward-facing car seat until at least
age 4, and until your child reaches the height or
weight limit of their seat. That can be anywhere
    from 60 to 100 pounds (27.2 to 45.4kg) depending
    on the seat.

6
Continue
  • Booster Seat
  • Once your child outgrows their car seat,
theyll still need a booster seat to help them
properly fit your cars own seat and safety belt
until theyre over 57 inches (145 cm) tall. And
they should sit in the back of your car until
    theyre 13 years old.

Types Of Booster Seats

Types Of Booster Seats
  • There are two kinds of booster
seats high-back and backless. Both have the same
    age, height, and weight requirements.
  • High-back Booster Seat
  • High-back booster seats are appropriate for
cars with low seat backs or no headrests.
  • Backless Booster Seat
  • Backless booster seats are appropriate for
cars with headrests and higher seat backs.

When You Use A Booster Seats
  • Children at this stage are not yet ready for
adult safety belts and should use
belt-positioning booster seats until they are at
least 49? and between 8 and 12 years old. Safety
belts are designed for 165-pound male adults, so
its no wonder that research shows poorly fitting
    adult belts can injure children.

10
How To Use A Booster Seats
  • Center the booster seat on one of the cars back
    seats.
  • Have your child sit on the booster seat.
  • Guide the cars shoulder belt and lap belt
through loops or hooks provided on the booster
    seat.
  • Tighten the lap belt low and flat against your
    childs thighs.
  • Make sure the shoulder strap doesnt touch your
childs neck but crosses at the middle of their
    chest.
  • Never use a booster seat if a car only has a lap
belt. Children must use both a lap belt and a
    shoulder belt.

11
Conclusion
  • Its very important that you use the right seat
for your child, and use it properly. Keep your
child in each car seat stage until they have
fully outgrown their particular seat, regardless
    of age.
  • No one expects to get in an accident, but if one
occurs, youll be glad youve taken every safety
    measure.
