Step 1 Getting Started

• 3 things you need to check before transfer
  wordpress.com to wordpress.org
• Make a self-hosted version of wordpress
• Purchase your domain name
• Choose a theme for your self-hosted website
•   After checking these you can now proceed in
  migrating your website and follow the next steps.

Step 2 Export Content from your Wordpress website

• In order for you to do that, go to your
  wordpress.com dashboard and then go to tools then
  select export. On the next page choose all
  content or you can select any specific content
  that you want to export, and then click download
  export file
• Afterwards you should see a download start for a
  file that ends in .xml. This file contains all of
  the data for your WordPress.com site.

Step 3 Import WordPress Content on your new site

• Next thing to do when your export file is ready,
  you need to go to the dashboard go to tools and
  then import and select and click installs now
  under wordpress options
• Note that the maximum size is 32mb, if you exceed
  more than that you might have some problems in
  migrating your site.
• After you click install now the button will
  change into Run Importer then you have to click
  it. Next, you need to choose the file to import,
  check the Choose File and select the .xml file
  that you have downloaded earlier, then click file
  and import.

• On the next screen you will be asked if you want
  to assign your posts to new authors, basically
  you can assign it to the existing author and i
  recommend to select yourself as an author.
  Otherwise you can create a new user account.

• After that check the box where it states Download
  and import file attachments, this will move all
  content from wordpress.com to wordpress.org, then
  click submit, once the process is done, double
  check if all of the image are there. And you will
  see on the confirmation screen saying have fun.
