Introduction -
CSIR NET is a national level exam which is
conducted by the Council of Scientific and
Industrial Research (CSIR) on the bi-yearly basis
for those science stream students who want to
make their career in Research and Lectureship
field. The exam is conducted in five subjects
i.e. 1. Life Sciences 2. Chemical Sciences 3.
Earth Sciences 4. Mathematical Sciences 5.
Physical Sciences
3CSIR NET Exam
Difference with UGC NET Exam -
- UGC NET and CSIR NET exams have differences in
various terms. UGC NET Exam is conducted by the
National Testing Agency while CSIR NET exam is
conducted by Human Resource Development Group
(HRDG) of Council of Scientific Industrial
Research (CSIR). - Primarily these both exams are having differences
in two areas i.e. Subjects and Exam Pattern.
4CSIR NET Exam
Difference with UGC NET Exam -
- UGC NET Exam is conducted for almost all subjects
of every stream. The Subjects in the NET Exam are
also from the Regional Language. While CSIR NET
exam is organized only for the science stream
subjects. This is the major difference between
both exams. - CSIR NET Exam has only one paper of 3 hours while
UGC NET has two papers with the time duration of
3 hours. Each paper of UGC NET has its own
specific duration.

Selection Procedure of CSIR NET Exam -
On the basis of candidates performance in the
written exam, two merit lists are prepared by the
authority, one consists the candidates qualifying
for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF
NET) and the second, of those candidates
qualifying the Eligibility Test for Lectureship
(NET). As per the conditions of selection put
forth by CSIR, top 6 candidates from the merit
list will be selected for final appointment.

Academic Qualification for CSIR NET -
- The percentage criteria is given below according
to different categories - For General/OBC Category Candidates??55
Aggregate Marks in Masters Degree - For SC/ST/PwD Category Candidates??50 Aggregate
Marks - Aspirants who are in the qualifying year of
post-graduation can also apply for the exam.
8CSIR NET Exam
Age Criteria for CSIR UGC NET -
- Along with educational criteria candidates need
to follow age criteria also. - For JRF??Candidates age must not more than 28
Years. - 5 years age relaxation will be provided to SC,
ST, PwD, OBC and Female applicants for JRF. - For Assistant Professor??There is no upper age
limit.

Validity Period of CSIR NET Certificate -
CSIR NET Certificate has a validity of two years
from the date of issue for Junior Research
Fellowship where it is valid for lifetime for
