  • WordPress is considered to be the most preferred
content management system for developing an
enticing and secure website. WordPress as a CMS
comes power packed with the role management
system that enables to define what tasks a
particular user can or cannot perform on your
website. A WordPress web developer in Sydney
states that when building a WordPress site it is
often useful to provide content or functionality
based on a users role or capabilities. Knowing
the following user roles are essential to display
the content on WordPress user roles.

3
Administrator
  • For the first step for displaying your content,
you need to know that the Administrator is the
most powerful user role. A user with the
administrator role can change the structure of
the website including its theme, plugins and
    other user settings.
  • An administrator user can add new users to the
site and also change information about the
existing users. An administrators role provides
with a full hold over the website to display
    content.

4
Author
  • An author as the name suggests users with the
author role can write, edit and publish their own
posts. They have all the freedom to upload media
files to use within their posts. Authors can
create categories and can create new tags for the
posts. They can also view the comments including
those that are pending review bit they cannot
approve, moderate or delete any comments.
  • The major disadvantage of assigning roles to the
author is that they can delete their post even
    after publishing it.

5
Editor
  • Editor sits at the top position to handle the
content of your website. A user with the editor
role has the full gold on the content sections of
your site. They have access to add, edit, delete
and publish posts on your WordPress website. This
editing capability includes all the posts even
the ones written by the authors.
  • Though having access to all the content aspects
of the website, an editor is restricted to change
    the site settings.

6
Contributor
  • The users who prominently aims to get the
recognition by contributing their work for your
site are known as the contributors. Contributors
can add and edit their posts, but they cannot
publish the posts. Contributors can even choose
from the existing categories and add the relevant
    tags.
  • They are restricted to upload any external files
on the website, not even images for their posts.

7
Subscriber
  • A subscriber is just like a regular user of the
website. Users with the subscriber user role
login to your WordPress website and update their
    user profiles.
  • They cannot write posts, view comments or do
anything else inside your WordPress admin area.
