Title: Connectivity over Internet: Boon or Bane

1
Connectivity over Internet Boon or Bane It is
about the time when the idea of connecting to
people online was a trend and it surprised
people. But now it is not just a trend anymore,
but a way of life. It is one of the major parts
of ones chores. It does not appear that a
normal life is even possible without online
social networking. It is the most revolutionary
transformation in technology and networking.
It is such a vast range, that it seems impossible
to cover all of them in one lifetime. It is
extremely simple to handle and very curiosity
provoking. The social network is extensively in
use irrespective of age, country or linguistic
differences. It connects people across different
states, countries and even continents. Enhancemen
ts and Characteristics With the growing demand
and extensive use, companies are motivated to
create more and create better. It is a global
race among them, to be the best. Therefore,
everyday a new feature is introduced, and a new
application is created.
2
  • Briefly,
  • Initially, talking over the internet via text
messages was introduced. Number of characters to
    be entered was limited.
  • As techno world progressed, the applications were
made capable of sending and receiving photos and
using special characters to decipher a word.
  • And it was not a long time, when people could
exchange their voice notes, audios and videos
    too.
  • Talking about the latest features, well, it is no
more just confined to texts and pictures. No one
can call each other, video call, send emoticons
and documents over the internet too.
  • What is special about social media or connecting
    over the internet?
  • One of the praiseworthy features of social media
is that it let you connect to strangers and
    people you dont know.
  • One can talk with them know about them and
    without any hesitation.
  • There are many instances of people meeting each
other over the internet, forming groups with
people having similar interests and then
    collaborating.
  • Internet particularly employs and helps people
earn money without any specific qualification.
  • This is more popular in the youth, including
students and teenagers. They write, draw and
display it on the internet for recognition.
  • In the same way, they photo shoot and display
pictures of themselves over the net, they dance,
act, mimic, sing and share their videos over the
    internet.
  • This brings them popularity recognition and it
brings them closer to people with common
hobbies. It gives them a platform to showcase
their talents and let people know about it.
  • How safe is Internet?
  • After knowing so many merits of internet and
social networking, there arises this question.
How safe is Internet? Is it as safe as it claims
    to be?
  • While the Internet is so amazing, it doesnt
ensure 100 safety and confidentiality, to ones
    private information and media.
  • People share their info over the internet for the
reason that others can know about them but there
is a chance that the information may be
circulated, leaked or used for unethical purposes.

3
  • It is mostly the teens who spend most of their
time on the internet and social media. The
companies and applications do claim total
security, but it does not ensure online safety
for teens because they are mostly engaged on the
    internet.
  • Cybercrime and Cyberbullying A dark side of the
    Internet
  • Cybercrime or Cyberbullying are crimes and
bullying that takes place over the internet, on
    online forums.
  • On the basis of the cyber incidents recorded, we
can conclude that the internet is unsafe.
  • There are many online educational institutions
where students upload and display their talents
    and art online.
  • There are hackers, or we may say that the
software is not strong enough to preserve the
information and unethical hackers break into
    their personal information and more.
  • The information is then used for blackmailing and
    is shared on undesirable websites.
  • There have been not one but many such instances
of cybercrimes, which clearly means there is no
    internet safety for students.
  • In the same way, many students, teens and young
people ruin their lives to the internet. Since,
the information on the internet spreads like a
forest fire, there is no way to stop or retrieve
    it once it is leaked.
  • The only way to get over with the problem is, not
getting into one. Several measures are taken in
this direction to prevent or at least reduce
cyber-crimes, but it does not look effective
    enough.
