  • Working in emergency medicine is stressful for
    even the most experienced health care
    professionals. However, to continue providing the
    highest quality of care to your patients, it is
    critical that you take steps to avoid a burnout.
    Luckily, there are many simple things you can do
    to ensure that you always bring your best.

Stay Calm
  • You will experience situations that make you
    feel desperate. For instance, it may seem like
    youll never be able to stop a patient from
    bleeding. When something like this happens, the
    best thing you can do is stay calm. Only by
    keeping your cool can you offer the medical
    attention your patient needs.

  • Remember that every situation, however terrible
    in the moment, will not last. Push through the
    hard times later you will be going home.

Create a Positive Environment
  • It is impossible to get on with everyone all the
    time, but when youre working in emergency
    medicine, you sometimes need to put this behind
    you. Be nice to your team members even if your
    personalities clash sometimes.
