Title: Tips for Choosing Between On and Off-Campus Housing

1
Tips for Choosing Between On and Off-Campus
Housing
2
  • For college students, choosing housing is almost
as important as choosing a major. Generally,
there are two basic housing options on-campus or
off-campus. Most students dont know how to
choose between the two, causing many to settle.

3
  • However, there are some considerations that can
prevent settling on either of these housing
options. Below are a few tips that can help you
    choose between the two.

4
Consider the Convenience
  • Whether on or off campus, all St. Catharines
student housing offers some convenience. However,
this convenience differs depending on where you
live. For example, dorm-living is more convenient
    than apartment-living.

5
  • This makes it beneficial to first-year students
and students who want less responsibility. Some
of the conveniences of on-campus living, include

6
  • Quick access to meals, which are prepared in the
    dining hall
  • No bills
  • Furnished rooms, so students dont have to move
    or purchase their own furniture

7
  • Proximity and easy access to school resources,
such as the library, study and computer lounges,
the bookstore, the dining hall, classrooms,
lectures halls, and so much more.
  • Few domestic responsibilities, such as cooking
    and cleaning

8
  • On the other hand, off-campus housing has its own
set of unique conveniences. For example
  • A private bathroom that you dont have to share
    unless you choose to
  • More space and privacy than dorms

9
  • A private kitchen where you can prepare your own
    (healthy) meals
  • No curfew and less rules and regulations than
    residence halls
  • Access to apartment amenities, such as a game
    lounge, gym, pool, etc.

10
Consider the Commute
  • Obviously, on-campus housing is much closer to a
    university than off-campus housing. However,
places like Regent Student Living offers St.
Catharines student housing thats in walking
    distance of the campus.

11
  • So, students can reap the benefits of off-campus
living while residing only minutes away from
their university. But living on-campus is as
close as you can get to your classes, the library
    and more.

12
Consider Any Extra Costs
  • No matter where you live, extra costs can add up
and make your accommodations more expensive. When
living on campus, essentially all standard costs
are covered. But you might have to pay for
extras, especially luxury items, such as
certain amenities, parking spots, furnishings or
    room types.

13
  • For students living in off-campus housing, extras
can be defined as basic utilities, fees for
amenities, transportation to and from school,
    groceries, and even insurance. Unfortunately,
these extra costs can make off-campus living too
    expensive for some students.

14
  • However, most off-campus, university-approved
housing is all-inclusive, so youll save money on
utilities. Plus, sharing expenses with roommates
can make living off campus much more affordable.
This is a luxury that isnt available when living
    on campus. http//regentstudents.com/
