THE DEVELOPMENT OF HEALTH EDUCATION
The origins of health education lie in the 19th
century when epidemic disease ultimately
controlled to pressure for sanitary reform for
the congested industrial towns. Alongside the
public health program occurred the idea of
educating the public for the good of its health.
The Medical Officers of Health appointed to each
town under the Public Health legislation of 1848
frequently disseminated everyday health advice on
safeguards against contagion. (Voluntary
associations were also formed including the
London Statistical Society,1839 the Health of
Towns Association,1842 and the Sanitary
Institute, 1876).

HEALTH IS WEALTH
Such is a simple sentence but its sense and
meaning is so incredible and unfathomable. Health
is more important than wealth. Health and wealth
are like two sides of a coin. A healthy and fit
person is often happy and positive about life.
Without health, people would not be able to work
effectively. Life is not only to be alive but to
be healthy and wealthy. We also agree to take
that the greatest wealth is health. Wealth
bargains success, career and leisure. We should
express our life in such a way to live with
happiness without much stress and strain. Our
career, physical fitness, relationship with
others, financial position, spiritual aspect, the
environment everything should be adjusted towards
our health and earning little wealth.

WHY HEALTH EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT
Health education shapes students' knowledge,
skills, and positive attitudes about health.
Health education teaches about physical, mental,
emotional and social health. It encourages
students to expand and maintain their health,
stop disease, and reduce risky behaviors. Health
education curricula and instruction help students
learn skills they will use to make healthy
choices throughout their lifetime. Active
programs result in positive changes in
performance that lower student risks
around Alcohol and other drugs, injury
anticipation, mental and emotional health,
nutrition, physical activity, prevention of
diseases and sexuality and family life. Health
education encourages learning in other subjects!
One study exposed that reading and math scores of
third and fourth grade students who received
inclusive health education were significantly
higher than those who did not. In general,
healthy students acquire better. Many studies
have shown that healthier students tend to do
better in school. They have higher presence, have
better grades, and perform better on tests.

HOW TO INCREASE HEALTH AWARENESS
1.Host a mental health screening event.

story. 4.Encourage non-judgmental speak. 5.Read
about it. 6.Talk to loved ones about how they are
feeling. 7.Talk about mental health with your
children.
