2Weird and Wild
You may think you know these animals of India,
but they have some odd traits.
The giant Indian centipede has bands of red and
black warning colours. It is a toxic beast.
The gharial is a kind of crocodile. Rows of
razor-sharp teeth line its narrow snout. It
mainly feasts on fish.
Swimming through the murky water of the Ganges,
the Ganges river dolphin has small eyes that do
not take in much light and do not even have
lenses. It uses sound to locate prey.
The rusty-spotted cat is one of the smallest
wild cats. It is even smaller than a tabby cat.
An Indian bullfrog can jump over water the same
way it jumps over land.
