Introduction to Differential Gear Box

• Differential Gear Box Consists of Bevel Gears.
• This are special speed Reducer Gearbox with shaft
  lying perpendicular to each other.
• Used Mainly in Right Angle Applications.
• It saves More Energy as compared to Worm Gears.
• Available in Market with vast variety of Gear
  Ratios.
• Varying Level of Torque is generated and
  customized according to applications.
• Materials- Cast Iron, Aluminium Alloy, Steel

Types of Differential Gear Boxes

• According to Bevel Gears-
• Straight Bevel Gears- Straight bevel gears have
  straight and tapered teeth and are used in
  applications requiring slow speeds.
• Spiral bevel gears- Spiral bevel gears have
  curved and oblique teeth and are used in
  applications requiring high-performance, high
  speed applications.

• According to Type of Gearbox
• Sometimes in Differential Gearbox it is necessary
  to operate at lower speeds then Straight Bevel
  Gears are used.
• Similarly, Spiral Bevel Gears are used for High
  Speed Applications.
• Conventional Type Gear Box- When it is required
  to deliver the same torque to each rear wheel
  conventional Type of Differential Gearbox is
  used.
• Non Slip or Self Locking Type
• Double Reduction Gearbox
