Equity performs best over long-term

• The first reason to invest in an ELSS fund is the
  high returns that equity can earn.
• Its a common MYTH that equities are the
  high-risk portion of investors portfolios.
• But the fact is, with increasing duration of
  holding in equity, stocks actually become less
  risky asset of all and gives the benefit of
  increased returns and helps to create WEALTH
  without upping the risk taken.

Highest flexibility among tax-saving investments

• Tax-saving instruments come with lock-in periods.
  
• ELSS funds have a lock-in of 3 years, least in
  comparison with other tax saving investments.
• Also If the ELSS fund you're investing in doesn't
  do well, you can move to another fund.
• This kind of flexibility isn't available with
  traditional tax-saving investments.

Returns are tax-free

• All capital gains earned through ELSS funds are
  tax-free i.e. there is no tax imposed on the
  maturity amount or the earnings accrued through
  ELSS investments.
• Also no tax is imposed on dividend earned from
  ELSS funds
