- Refers to a number of stresses occurring in
recently planted trees and shrubs involving the
failure of the plant to root well thus being
unable to establish itself in the landscape.

- Nursery plants are not natural(Grown very fast
without attention to natural systems.) - Planting sites are not natural.
- Water management is critical.(Often irrigation

12Nursery Plants Not Natural
- Nursery plants are grown to meet physical
specifications. - All attention is to inventory turnover.
- Many of the natural immune systems plants have
all evolved with are not present. - BB have had up to 60 of roots removed
